“So…you know how I’ve just randomly ditched plans?”
Jordan and Jae were just staring at Jinie with confused looks on their faces. What on earth did that have to do with tonight?
“…yes…continue.” Jae prompted.
“Do you know what tonight was?”
“Um…Saturday night?” Jae questioned.
Jinie nearly burst out laughing.
“I think she means an event?” Jordan suggested. She thought for a moment. “Did you go to the concert without us?” She exclaimed suddenly.
Jinie and Nani shared a silent glance. Then Jinie took another sip of tea.
“You did!” Jordan gasped dramatically. “How could you go without us!”
“I only got two tickets…I couldn’t take you.” Jinie mumbled.
“Ok, but why were you out until three am?” Jae asked.
Both girls were silent.
“Jinie…you should tell them.”
“Tell us what?” Jordan asked.
“I…have a boyfriend.”
Jordan and Jae once again shared a glance.
“And…this is a big deal…why?” Jae asked.
“Because he’s not just some guy I met at a coffee shop in Chicago.”
Jordan and Jae were left scratching their heads from that comment.
“Ok…?”
“Just tell them, Jinie.” Nani muttered.
“…can’t we just wait till tomorrow?”
“No. Do it now.”
“Just tell us!” Jordan exclaimed.
“You act like you’re dating Tae or something,” Jae laughed.
Jinie just stared at him.
“No way…are you serious?” Jae asked.
“You’re dating Tae?!” Jordan yelled in surprise, making Nani jump. “No wonder you were gone so late tonight.”
“How long has this been going on?” Jae asked.
“Um…we started dating last July…so…ten months?”
“Ten months? How did you keep it a secret for that long?” Jordan asked incredulously.
“Very…very carefully. It would still be a secret if Nani hadn’t…” Jinie’s voice trailed off.
“If Nani hadn’t…what?” Jae questioned.
“I saw a text she’d gotten from him when we were in LA. And I asked about it.” Nani explained.
Jordan looked about two seconds from ripping her hair out. “This is ridiculous! Am I dreaming? Because this is by far the weirdest dream I’ve ever had!”
“It’s not a dream, Jordan.” Jinie found her voice again.
“Yeah, sure. Where’s your guest bedroom, again? I’m going to sleep. Maybe tomorrow I’ll wake up and find myself in my own bed again.”
