After a bit of searching, Nani found Jinie sitting on a bench along the lake. She was wrapped in a jacket with her knees brought up to her chest as she stared out at the water. Nani sat next to her.
“Jinie, what’s wrong?”
Jinie looked up at Nani with tears in her eyes. “I almost broke up with Tae…”
“What?! But…why?”
Jinie sighed. “It’s hard, Nani. What if I can’t keep it a secret?”
Nani set her hand on Jinie’s shoulder. “Hey. Now that all of us know, you don’t have to stress about us finding out anymore. You have no one else that’s close enough to you to find out.” She paused. “Wait…did you say ‘almost?’”
“I called him. And we talked it out.”
Nani patted her shoulder. “So, you’re ok then?”
Jinie nodded.
“I didn’t realize you were that bothered by the fact that we found out,” Nani commented.
Jinie sighed. “I just…was freaked out that you all found out by yourselves.”
“Well…technically you told Jordan and Jae.”
“When are we meeting for dinner?” Jinie asked, changing the subject.
“In half an hour.”
“Well let’s go, then.”

That evening, Nani got a text from Jimin.
“Do you want to meet at the hotel tonight? I have about half an hour after the concert.”
“Just the two of us?”
“Yup!”
Nani smiled as she read that.
“Ok! See you tonight!”
They met on the roof at eleven that night. Jimin brought a few blankets in case they got cold. And they sat there and talked for a few hours.
“Nani?”
“Yes, Jimin?”
They’d been sitting in silence for a few moments now as they watched the sky.
“We’re friends now, right?”
“We’re whatever you want to be.”
“I think for now I want to be your friend.”
Did that mean he wanted something more than that?
“Then I’ll be your friend.”
“Really?”
Nani could hear the smile in his voice as he spoke.
“Yes, really. And if we’re something more than friends one day, I’m ok with that too.”
A moment later, Nani felt herself being attacked by a ball of fluff. Jimin hugged her and pulled her into the blanket that had been thrown over his shoulders. She laughed.
“I’m gonna miss you when we leave,” Jimin mumbled into her hair.
“I’ll miss you too. But we can always text. And call.”
“We can. But it won’t be the same.”
“Well…at least I’m somewhere you visit often.”
“That’s true.”
Nani smiled. She’d never thought she would get to say that Jimin was one of her friends. But here she was. And she hoped it would be the start of more than a friendship.
