It was Valentine’s Day. The holiday of love. And none of the guys had a girlfriend. So why was there a huge box covered in pink and purple hearts on the dining room table? Hobi examined it. It didn’t seem to say who it was for. He wasn’t sure if he should flip it upside down, though. It could have something breakable in it.
“What’s that, Hobi?” Jimin asked as he entered the dining room.
“I’m not sure. I was wondering the same thing.”
“It doesn’t say who it’s for?”
Hobi shook his head. “Should we ask around?”
“We could open it.”
“Well, we don’t know if anyone else knows what it is yet. Let’s ask first and if no one knows, we can open it.”
Jimin nodded in agreement, and the two of them headed off to ask the other members if they knew who it was for.
——————–
Tae flipped the box upside down before Hobi could say anything.
“The entire box is pink.” Tae stated the obvious.
“Yes, it is.” Jin nodded.
Tae picked up the box and shook it without hesitation. It made a bunch of clunking noises. A look of confusion passed over his face and he put the box back on the table.
“When do Yoonie and Joon get back?” Tae asked. “We can’t open this until they get back.”
“They’ll be back in an hour or so,” Jungkook replied.
Jimin sighed.
“Why don’t we try to guess what it is?” Jin suggested.
——————–
The five of them sat around the table taking turns shaking the box, smelling it, and studying it.
“Any ideas?” Jimin asked.
“It could be rocks,” Tae offered.
Jungkook snickered. “Rocks? Why would someone give us rocks?”
Tae shrugged.
“It could be face creams,” Hobi proposed.
“…what?” Jin asked.
“No, no, he’s got a point.” Jungkook interjected. “Think about it. If you put a bunch of face creams in a box and you shook it, it would make a similar sound.”
Tae nodded. “It would. And the box didn’t really have a smell.”
“Well, even without a smell it could be a lot of things.”
“That’s true.”
There was a heavy silence over the table for a few seconds.
“So, we have no guesses?” Jin asked.
“Not really,” Jimin replied.
“Guess we’ll just wait for Yoongi and Joon, then.”
——————–
The boys were kept on edge for another hour and half. Yoongi and Namjoon took longer at the studio than they had planned. When they finally got home, Jimin was about ten seconds from going to the studio to find them.
“Why are you all in the living room?” Yoongi asked as he entered the room. Usually, everyone was being very productive, and generally they were all in different rooms. Not today. Today, everyone was sitting around on the couch doing absolutely nothing but waiting.
“Waiting for you two to get home,” Jungkook replied.
“What for?”
So, all seven boys gathered in the dining room around the large, pink box.
“No one knows who this is for?” Jin asked.
Six heads shook back and forth.
“Let’s open it, then.”
Jungkook pulled out the scissors and cut the tape off the top of the box, then Hobi, Jimin, and Tae all pulled the box open. To their surprise, what was inside the box was seven smaller boxes. And an envelope addressed, “방탄소년단.”
“Ooo a note!” Jimin exclaimed. He pulled it out of the box and ripped the envelope open.
“Happy Valentine’s Day, boys! Seven secret admirers asked me to deliver these to you, so I’ve left them in this box for you to all open together. – Bang PD”
“Seven secret admirers? What does he mean?” Tae asked. “It can’t be fans, because they’re not allowed to send us items…”
“How about we open them? That may help us figure out who they’re from,” Namjoon suggested.
Jungkook dug pulled out the boxes. There was a name tag on each one of them, so he read each one and handed it to the boy it belonged to.
“Should we all open them at the same time?” Hobi queried.
Jimin nodded eagerly, and everyone pulled the top off their box on the count of three. Everyone’s box had another note in it. They all pulled them out and opened them to read them.
“Oh my goodness…” Jin gasped.
“It’s from my mom!” Tae exclaimed with a teary smile on his face.
“Mine is from my mom too!” Jimin exclaimed.
The other four boys were silent as they read their letters. Jungkook put his down and dumped the contents of his box on the table. Chocolate tumbled out everywhere.
“Did our moms get together and plan this?” Namjoon asked after he’d finished reading his letter.
“It appears so,” Yoongi mumbled over a mouthful of candy.
“I mean…really, it makes sense. Who else would it be?” Hobi asked.
“…Yeontan.” Tae muttered. Then he laughed.
“We should call them,” Jungkook concluded as he ate a piece of chocolate.
——————–
Half an hour later, after everyone had had a good talk with their mother, they all gathered on the couch.
“So, should we order pizza for dinner?”
