“You’re home already?” Nia asked when she walked through the door at five.
“Yeah. Today was a bit of a rough day at work. How was your shopping?”
“It was good! We finally got Sua a dress. Minseo wanted at least four of the dresses,” Nia laughed. “That was quite amusing. We did get her to narrow it down to one, though, so that was good.” She kicked her shoes off and hung her purse up before sitting down on the couch next to Taehyung. “What’s up? You look a bit depressed.”
He sighed. “My dad showed up at work today.”
“Oh. Are you all right?”
He shrugged. “It was just kind of a shock, I guess. He acted like nothing was wrong. Like we were friends or something.”
“Did he have anything to say?”
“I think that I did most of the talking, honestly. I was mad. He’s had thirty-two years to fix this, and he waited until now? My mother isn’t even here anymore for him to apologize to her.”
Nia sighed, nibbling on her lip. “Well, some people take more time to come around, I guess.”
“Have you talked to your parents at all?”
“No. I cut off all contact with them last December after I broke up with Hobi.”
Taehyung hummed. “Did I ever tell you your mom sent me a letter?”
“What? No! When was this?”
“March…?” Taehyung grimaced.
“March? Tae, it’s been six months! Why didn’t you tell me?”
He sighed. “I knew it would just make you mad,” he admitted. “Would you like to read it?”
Nia glared at him. “No, thank you.”
She stood up and marched out to the kitchen. Taehyung stared after her, perplexed. He hadn’t expected her to get that mad about it. He stood up and followed her.
“Hey, I’m sorry. I threw the letter in my desk right after I read it. I didn’t want to think about it. I didn’t think you’d want to read it, honestly.” He reached out hugged her from behind. “I’m sorry.”
“It’s…ok. I’m not sure why I’m that mad, honestly. I mean, the letter was addressed to just you, right? It wasn’t meant for me.” She turned around, wrapping her arms around his waist and burying her face in his chest.
“How are Sua and the babies?” Taehyung asked, searching for something else to talk about.
“Sua’s exhausted. The babies are getting so big already.” Nia sighed. “I can’t wait to have a baby, Tae.”
“We could always go make one,” he teased.
Nia was silent for a moment. “What if I told you we already did?”
“What?” Taehyung stood there for a moment, completely shocked. “You’re pregnant?” he asked, pulling away to look her in the eye.
“Yeah.” She watched tears fill his eyes. “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing. Nothing’s wrong. You’re serious? We’re really going to have a baby?”
She nodded, unsure how to respond. He grinned and pulled her back into a hug.
“When did you find out?” he asked after a few moments.
“This morning.”
He let out a soft chuckle. “You’re gonna have your hands full, aren’t you? You’re helping Sua with the babies, you’re watching Jisung, and now we’ll have one of our own.”
“Well, Jisung starts kindergarten next year, and the triplets will be close to one, so maybe not as crazy?”
“You know what, this means more baby clothes shopping!”
This is not a drill people we are having a baby!!!
