Tae stared out the window at the snow that was slowly falling to blanket the ground. The wind whipped past the window, whistling as it carried the fluffy white powder with it. He sighed heavily. He had planned to take Jihye out today, but that definitely wasn’t happening now. At least he had gone shopping before today.
“Morning, Tae.” A groggy voice said behind him.
He turned around to see Jihye rubbing her eyes as she walked down the stairs. Her hair was still messy, and the gray sweatshirt she had stolen from his closet was drowning her limbs. He couldn’t even see her shorts under it! He grinned. She was so cute.
“Good morning, princess.”
She returned his smile and headed for the kitchen, where she was greeted by a plate piled high with overcooked pancakes and a pan of runny strawberry syrup on the island. Her smile widened. But Tae was frowning behind her.
“I’m-”
“You’re so sweet, Tae!”
She walked over to the island, pulling out a stool and seating herself on it before grabbing a plate and piling a few pancakes on it. Then she poured some of the strawberry syrup over the top, cut a piece out with her fork, and promptly shoved the bite into her mouth.
“Mmm! Tae, these are good!” she mumbled over the pancake in her mouth.
Tae grimaced. “Are they really, though?”
He had tasted them. He knew they weren’t good. He sighed and pulled a can of whipped cream from the fridge and set it on the island. “Here, if you insist on eating them, drown out the burnt taste with this.”
“Nah.” Jihye shoved another bite of pancake into her mouth. “I like overcooked pancakes.”
“You-you do?”
“Mmmhmm.”
Tae sighed. “Well, then I guess it’s good to know I didn’t ruin Valentine’s Day for you, then.”
Jihye sobered, her grin disappearing. “Tae-Tae, you could never ruin Valentine’s Day for me. Just spending it with you is enough.”
Tae blushed, making Jihye giggle.
“You’re so cute, Tae-Tae, you know that?”
Tae tried to hide the fact that that comment made him more flustered. “Yes, you remind me every day.”
“So, what do you have planned for today? I know you have something planned; you always do.”
Tae frowned. “Well, I had stuff planned, but now we can’t do it because of the blizzard.”
“That’s okay! We can spend the day watching cheesy romcoms and snuggling on the couch.”
Tae’s smile returned. “You really don’t let anything bother you, do you?”
Jihye giggled. “There’s no point. I’d rather spend my time doing something fun than wishing something that can’t happen will happen.”
“Romcoms and snuggles it is, then.”
