Had she passed out again? Hobi glanced at her before he pulled out into the street. Her eyes were closed, and she was breathing so heavily that he could see the rise and fall of her chest. He was worried about her. He didn’t know what to do. He and the guys would be leaving for the stadium in half an hour.
Should he take her to the hospital? Or back to her home? Or to his hotel? He was undecided. He wasn’t very far from his hotel. Maybe he would start there. He drove the short distance and parked his car. He turned towards her.
“I’m Hobi. What’s your name?”
“Sakura,” she whispered.
He breathed a sigh of relief. She was still conscious! “I don’t know how to help you. Has this ever happened to you before?”
“Yes.”
“Do you have a medical condition?”
“No.”
I just don’t eat. Much at all. Sometimes my body rebels. I’m fine.
She gave voice to her last thought. “I’m fine.”
“I don’t think you are. I don’t want to leave you alone. You’re scaring me.”
She felt tears wetting her eyes. Had anyone ever spoken to her in such a gentle voice before? Had anyone ever been afraid for her well-being? She didn’t think so. She heaved a large sigh.
Was this why she’d been so rude last night? Did she make a habit of starving herself? No wonder she was in such a bad mood. But why did she think she was fat? And who had told her not to eat?
Hobi had so many questions. But he started with the most pressing problem. “I have to go to practice in a few minutes. But I don’t want to leave you alone. So I think we have three options. I could take you to a hospital…”
She sat up straighter suddenly and shook her head.
“Or I could take you home. Is there someone there who could keep an eye on you? In case you pass out again?”
She was tempted to lie, but as she glanced into those beautiful eyes of his, she found it impossible. So she shook her head again.
“Or you could come to practice with me.” He quirked an eyebrow at her as he smiled sweetly.
She nodded. For some reason, she didn’t want to be without his comforting presence again. She found her voice. “Are you sure it’s okay?”
He nodded his head definitively. “Yes! Absolutely.” Why was he so excited? He eyed her. “I’ll take you with me on one condition.”
She held his gaze.
“You come into my hotel with me, and you eat something. Like a real breakfast.”
She quirked a dark eyebrow. “That sounded like two conditions.”
“I was emphasizing the eating part.”
“I figured,” she muttered.
She sighed loudly again. She was beginning to feel sick to her stomach. She knew it was from not eating. She was really growing weary of dizziness, weakness, headaches, and upset stomachs. Maybe today she could humor this sweet guy and eat something. And feel good for once. Surely, one day wouldn’t hurt. Right?
