“Eunji! I need to leave Jungju with you again today. Do you mind? I think we’ll be gone most of the day.” Yoongi yelled, pounding on Eunji’s door.
“That’s fine. Just let me get dressed first.”
Eunji came out a minute later, taking Jungju from Yoongi’s arms.
“What time do you think you’ll be back?”
“Um…I’m not exactly sure… It could be any time between 6 pm and midnight, it just depends. Do you think you can put him to bed if we’re not back by nine?”
“Yep. I can handle it; I’ve done it before.”
“All right, I gotta run. See you tonight.”
“See you.”
Yoongi ran down the stairs and headed for the door.
———————
“Jungju, why don’t you want to go play?” Eunji looked down at the small boy cradled in her arms.
“I tired…”
“You just woke up a few hours ago!”
Jungju leaned his head on her shoulder.
“Are you sick?” She placed her hand on his forehead. “Oh, no…you have a fever…”
She quickly pulled out her phone, attempting to call Tae. When he didn’t answer, she tried again. Still no answer. She then called his home phone. Maybe his phone was dead.
“Hello?” A voice asked.
“Namjoon..? Where’s Tae?”
“Um I don’t know…he left an hour ago. Do you need something?”
“Yeah, I was going to ask him to go get some medicine for Jungju. He’s sick.”
“Oh. I can do it. What do you need?”
“Fever reducers.”
“All right, I’ll be there in ten minutes.”
“Thank you, Namjoon.”
“No problem.”
She hung up and put her phone in her pocket. She then took Jungju upstairs to his bedroom. Maybe she could see Taehyung later.
Namjoon arrived about 15 minutes later, the guards letting him inside.
“Eunji! I’m here!”
“Hang on! I’ll be down in a second!”
A minute later Eunji ascended the stairs, holding Jungju in her arms.
“Thanks for bringing the medicine. I didn’t want to take Jungju out and I don’t particularly like sending my assistant to get things for me. I was thinking about calling Yoongi or Nari…but I didn’t want to bother them.”
“Ah. I went and bought some soup for him too. I figured he should probably have some.”
Eunji smiled. “You’re so sweet, thank you. Let’s go out to the living room.”
Eunji walked to the living room, Namjoon following. She sat Jungju down on the couch and took the medicine from Namjoon.
After they finally got Jungju to take his medicine and drink a bit of the soup, they settled on the couch and decided to watch a movie. It wasn’t long before Jungju was letting out soft snores. Eunji looked at the clock, wondering when Yoongi would be home. The clock read 3:30. She hoped Yoongi would be back at 6, as she didn’t want to have to call him.
“It’s raining outside.” Namjoon motioned to the window, where Eunji saw it pouring rain.
“Ah, the rain always makes me sleepy.”
It was silent for a moment as they just listened to the rain. It was almost like Eunji was in a trance as she had the impulse to lean her head on Namjoon’s shoulder. She gave into the impulse, leaning her head on his shoulder as they continued to listen to the pouring rain. Before she had realized it, she had fallen asleep on his shoulder.

Taehyung pulled his phone out of his gym bag. He had just finished his daily workout with Jungkook. He noticed a few missed calls from Eunji. She hadn’t left any voice mails, which was strange for her. He was about to call her back when he felt a tug on his sleeve. He looked back to see Jungkook.
“Hey, can you drive me home? It’s raining cats and dogs outside!”
Taehyung sighed. Why on earth did Jungkook always walk to the gym?
——————–
“Have you talked to Eunji yet?”
Taehyung tried not to get aggravated as Jungkook threw questions at him rapid-fire. This was the third question he had asked in a minute, and Taehyung hadn’t even had time to think about the answers to any of them. He gave himself a moment to process before answering Jungkook’s last question.
“No. I haven’t talked to her since the pool party.”
“What?” Jungkook sighed. “You need to talk to her, you know? You like her. You need to do something about it!”
Taehyung turned to Jungkook. “I told you. Namjoon is better for her, and he likes her. I can’t get in the way…”
“Tae-”
“Don’t lecture me. It’s my choice, right?”
“I guess…”
The rest of the car ride was silent. Jungkook stared down at his lap, rolling his thumbs. He felt bad for continuing to pester Taehyung. He knew Taehyung. Taehyung would give anything for Namjoon. He believed he owed his life to Namjoon. Jungkook didn’t know if there was a way to convince him otherwise.
——————–
Eunji watched as Namjoon’s car pulled out of the driveway. After the afternoon’s events, she had come to a decision. She needed to tell Taehyung about her passionate love for him before it was too late. She knew if she didn’t do it now she’d be married to Namjoon and would regret her actions for life. She had to take her chances, even though they were low and unpromising. She picked up her phone, taking a deep breath.
“It’s now or never,” she reminded herself.
——————–
Taehyung looked at his phone as it chimed. He picked it up. It was Eunji. She had sent him three texts in a row.
“Sorry about my calls earlier. Are you all right? Namjoon said he didn’t know where you were.
“Also, don’t worry about the calls. I just called to ask you to pick up some medicine because Jungju was sick, but Namjoon handled it for me. I assume you were working out when I called. I forgot you work out most mornings.
“And one last thing. I want you to meet me at Kobe Steakhouse tonight at eight. Can you do that?”
Taehyung quickly responded.
“I’m fine. I was working out, like you said. And yes, I can meet you there. Is something up?”
“No. Do I have to have an excuse go out to dinner with my best friend?”
“I suppose not. I’ll see you tonight, then!”
“Yep. See you tonight.”
Taehyung observed that her texts were all straight-to-the-point and she used periods? She only ever used exclamation points and question marks when she was texting. Both of those things were very strange. Something was definitely up. Maybe he’d find out tonight.
