Jimin stared at Jungkook expectantly. “So, what’d you find out?  Does he like her back?”

“If you really want answers, you need to stop begging.” Jungkook paused to look at Jimin, who was sulking.  He laughed. “I’m kidding.  Yes, he does like her.  But he refuses to tell her because he knows Namjoon likes her.” Jungkook sighed. “He feels like he at least owes Namjoon this…”

Jimin sighed. “I don’t understand those two.  They act like they have to give the whole world to each other.”

“Should we let Yoongi in on this?  I feel like he’d be of help to us.”

“Maybe.  He does know Eunji the best out of everyone besides Tae.”

“Let’s call him.”

——————–

Taehyung blinked his eyes open, staring at the ceiling above him.  Had he fallen asleep?

“Taehyung, are you all right?  You’ve been up here for hours.” Taehyung heard Namjoon’s gentle voice ask from the other side of the door.

“I’b fine.” His eyes widened.  Oh, no!  His nose was stuffed up again!  Apparently, his shower hadn’t been a permanent fix.

“Are you sure?  You sound kinda sick.” Namjoon popped his head in the door. “Do you need something?”

Taehyung sat up, ignoring Namjoon’s questioning. “Is Eunji still here?”

“She left an hour ago.  I called Yoongi to come pick her up.”

“Oh.” Taehyung flopped back against the bed, pain shooting through his head again.  He winced.

Namjoon sighed and walked over to him.  He sat on the edge of the bed next to Taehyung. “You got sick too last night, didn’t you?”

“No…”

“Yes, you did, don’t lie.  Your nose is very clearly stuffed.”

“I told you, I’b fine.”

Namjoon gave him a stern look. “Taehyung.”

“Ok fibe…I might be kinda sick…but I didn’t want you to worry.”

Namjoon sighed. “You mean because I was taking care of Eunji.  What happened last night, honestly?”

Taehyung hesitated. “I…we…  She asked me out to dinner.  At dinner, she tolb me she’s in lub with me…” He paused, sniffing in an attempt to clear his nose. “I tolb her she’s like my sister…and then she left the restaurant.”

“Not before you gave her your blazer, though?”

“I didn’t want her to get sick…”

“But then you didn’t have anything to cover yourself.  Taehyung, you’re too nice to her.  That’s why she likes you.”

“But you’re nicer than I am!  If it’s about how nice I am then why doesn’t she like you?” Taehyung stopped himself from speaking further, realizing how his last sentence may have come across wrong.

“Tae.” Namjoon sighed. “Stop putting yourself down.  You’re very nice.  Don’t say you aren’t.”

Taehyung stared up at his ceiling.  He didn’t want to discuss this topic any longer.  He voiced this thought to Namjoon.

“Let’s stob talking about this.”

Namjoon sighed. “Fine.  I’ll be back with some soup for you soon.” He left before Taehyung could argue.

——————–

Eunji lay in her bed, staring up at the ceiling.  Taehyung thought of her as a sister…  He thought of her as a sister…  That sounded horrible. She sighed heavily.  Why had fate been so cruel to her?  She rolled over onto her side, squishing her cheek against the pillow.  She blinked, and tears started to roll down her cheek.  She wished she had never told Taehyung about how she felt.  She wished he could just be her best friend again.  The one that had movie nights with her and threw popcorn in her face…  The one that tossed her into the pool when they had pool parties…  The one who learned how to braid her hair for her…  She turned her face into her pillow and sobbed.  She sobbed until she fell asleep.

——————–

Taehyung stared at the ceiling, once again fighting back tears.  He wanted Eunji…  He missed her so badly…  Why had he rejected her…?   Namjoon would understand, right?  Namjoon would’ve given her up for Taehyung’s sake.  That was it.  That was the reason.  He had rejected her because he knew Namjoon would’ve readily gave her up for him.  But Namjoon was in love with her.  He deserved her.  Taehyung closed his eyes as he finally let his tears fall.  They poured down his cheeks, soaking them with tears.  He couldn’t stop them once they started falling.  Tear, after tear, after tear.  Until his whole face was drenched in tears.  They were rolling down his chin to reach his neck.  They stung his skin.  He cried until he finally fell asleep.

——————–

Taehyung awoke feeling himself being shifted.  Someone was picking him up. “Joon?” he asked groggily, knowing it was probably Namjoon who had picked him up.

“What is it, Tae?”

Taehyung sighed internally in relief. “I’b cold…can you snubble me?”

Namjoon seemed to be put into a trance at that moment.  He stared off into space.  Taehyung stared up at him for a few seconds.  What was going on?  A chill suddenly hit Taehyung harshly, and his entire body quaked with this shiver.  He got desperate and suddenly grabbed Namjoon by the collar, pulling him down into the bed with him.  He clung to Namjoon, hoping his body heat would warm him up enough that he would stop shivering.  He half expected Namjoon to get up and leave.  He suddenly felt Namjoon wrap his arms around him.  Taehyung sighed in relief.

“J-Joon…I-I’b c-cold…  P-please don’t l-leab…” Taehyung shivered.

Namjoon pulled the covers up over them, engulfing Taehyung and himself in heat. “All right.  I won’t.”

——————–

Jimin stared blankly down at his phone.  Yoongi had just given him and Jungkook a series of useless short answers to their questions before hanging up.  Jimin looked at Jungkook.

“So, what now?”

“We take a break.  I’m going to Tae’s house.  Hopefully he’s up to playing games.”

Jungkook quickly made his way out the door.  Jimin sighed.  The detective work was up to him right now.

——————–

Jungkook knocked on the door of Taehyung and Namjoon’s house.  That was odd.  No one was answering.  He pulled out his phone and texted Taehyung.  No response.  Maybe his phone was still dead.  He tried Namjoon.  Also, no response.  Jungkook sighed.  He reached for the doorknob.  It was usually unlocked.  He twisted the knob, opening the door.

“Tae?  Namjoon?” Jungkook yelled.

Was no one home?  He walked into the living room, finding it empty.  Where could they have gone?  He made his way up the stairs to Taehyung’s room, finding the door open slightly.  He pushed it open cautiously, finding Taehyung asleep in Namjoon’s arms.  He raised an eyebrow.  Namjoon, noticing him, motioned for him to stay quiet.  Jungkook furrowed his brow.

“What?” He whispered.

“Be.  Quiet.” Namjoon whispered back. “He just fell asleep.”

Why was Namjoon acting like Taehyung was a 3-year-old who had just gone down for his nap?  Then again, Namjoon had always babied his younger brother.  Jungkook sighed and shook his head, heading back for the staircase.  It appeared Taehyung would not be playing video games with him today.
