Julieta finally began to feel better around midnight. Jin was wide awake too. They were sitting on her bed watching a drama together. When it came to an end, Julieta turned towards him.
She admitted, “I didn’t see that coming. I had no idea that Malchin was behind the sabotage! He seemed like such a nice guy!”
Jin shook his head. “Nope. I saw him coming a mile away.”
Julieta’s eyes widened. “No way! He was such a sweetheart when he rescued her from the rainstorm. And the chaos in the office.”
“No, no, no. You’ve got it all backwards. He caused the chaos in the office so that he could rescue her.”
She eyeballed him doubtfully. “Now I suppose you’re going to tell me that he also caused the rainstorm,” she suggested dryly.
Jin laughed. “Hardly. He just took advantage of the moment.” Then he cleared his throat. “Speaking of which…” His eyes met her own.
Julieta sobered. “Jin? What is it? What are you trying to say?”
“So…the guys and I are headed to Buenos Aires on the sixteenth…”
Julieta’s eyes widened. “What? Why?”
“To attend the opening of our Connect there. We’re stopping in for a few days on our way to L.A.”
“I can’t believe you’re going to visit my hometown.”
“Not just your hometown. But also, the city that houses Los Gemelos’s factory. And headquarters.”
“Jin?” Julieta eyed him suspiciously. “What are you up to?”
He grinned. “Can’t get anything past you, huh?”
“Not unless you’re Malchin,” she smiled.
He chuckled. Then his smile disappeared. “We have to get to the bottom of the attacks against you, Julieta. I’m headed to the United States for a week and a half soon, but come April, I’ll be gone for over eleven weeks. I don’t like the idea of you being here alone. I don’t trust these people. And I will not see you come to any harm.” He was thinking of her parents. “You know that Mr. Gonzalez hasn’t been able to convince anyone else to sell him their shares. Who knows what he’ll do when he gets desperate?”
She could feel fear nipping at her again. She tried every day to push it away, but it was omnipresent. “You really believe he had my parents killed?”
Jin just looked at her.
She shivered. She couldn’t believe it. A man who had been like an uncle to her throughout her entire life. How could he be behind such an atrocity?
“Julieta, I would like for you to arrange a tour of the factory and facility for BTS on Saturday, the eighteenth.”
“What?”
“We want to see the buildings.”
“What you mean,” she interpreted dryly, “is that you want to plant bugs in the corporate offices.”
He nodded. “And on the corporate grounds. Do you have a friend that you trust in Buenos Aires? Someone who is not connected with Los Gemelos?”
“Why?”
“I want to ship a package to them. But they need to leave it unopened. It’s a package for us. Micro listening devices and mini cameras.”
“You mean, bugs.”
“Yes.”
She drew a deep breath. “I can think of one person.”
“Who?” He quirked his eyebrows.
“My old neighbor. She’d an elderly woman. If I tell her that I’m shipping some things you will need when you visit, she won’t open the box. But she will keep it for me.”
“Can I have her address? And would you call her and tell her to expect a package over the next few days?”
Julieta nodded. “But first, I’ll have to see if I can arrange a tour for you all. Just the seven of you?”
“And our management team and bodyguards.”
Julieta raised a dark eyebrow. “So around twenty people?”
He nodded.
“Okay. I will see what I can do.”
