Still with You – Chapter 3: Under the Frozen Light

Bora had seen him outside her window at seven o’clock.  He’d still been standing there when the street lamps had turned on around nine.  The strange thing was that the light glowing from the lamp directly over his head had been purple.  It had left a violet sheen in the gleam of his midnight locks.  Making her want to slide her fingers through his hair.  She could still feel its silken touch in her sweetest memories.  But she had brushed that thought away.  She’d had to.

But doing so couldn’t wipe the significance of that color from the canvas of her mind.  He had made a broad stroke there once with the paintbrush of his lips.  She’d been sitting next to him on his couch.  His arms had been wrapped around her.  He’d bent his head and kissed her lips softly.  Making her melt.

“I love you, Bora.”

He had smiled as he’d said it.  And a beautiful light had been shining out of his eyes.

“Bora…I have a special love for you.  Like your name, my love too is purple.  Because it’s a forever love.  No matter where you go, I’ll always be true to you.  That’s the blue part.  No matter what you do, I’ll forever love you passionately.  That’s the red part.  I’ve mixed them together – the faithfulness of my love and the fire of my passion for you, and I’m left with this purple passion.  My forever love for you.”

She’d just stared at him.  This boy said the strangest things.  This day and age, who said such beautiful words?  Only Jungkook.  She hadn’t known how to respond.

So she’d just let her eyes slide along the gorgeous lines of his face.  She’d studied that lovely countenance for a long time.  The wide swath of his tan forehead.  Mostly hidden beneath his midnight locks.  The perfect arches of his two raven eyebrows.  She’d skipped over his eyes.  She had been saving his most beautiful feature for last.  So her gaze had slid down the straight slope of his nose until it hit the tip where it suddenly curved unexpectedly.  His slightly bulbous nose rescued his face from femininity.  And it led her eyes to his mouth.

Oh!  Those lips.

They were so soft.  A girl could lose her senses there.  If she lingered too long.  And she had lingered there.  Often.  Her mouth playing along his.  Coaxing sweet melodies from his fuller bottom lip.  She shivered even now as she remembered the sweetness hidden in his kiss.  Such thoughts made her long for him.

Again, she attempted to push her recollections away.  But in her mind’s eye, she made the mistake of glancing back up into those obsidian eyes of his.  And she fell forward into the memory of them.  The next instant, she was drowning in those gleaming pools.  Eyes that held a million mysteries.  And made her want to return for more of him.  Forever.

She sighed.  They didn’t have forever.  They didn’t even have today.  She’d been warned.  If she didn’t leave him alone, he would be hurt.

Suddenly, she turned her head into her pillow and sobbed.  How was she going to live without him?  He had become like the air to her.  She’d been strangling in the breathless space of the last three weeks.
