Yun’s emotions were bouncing between excitement and fear. Was Jungkook ok? He was supposed to be returning today. She had been missing him since he’d left. She truly hoped he’d return today like he’d promised.
——————–
Footsteps could be heard outside the king’s chambers. They were soft against the floor, but the outfit the visitor was wearing made quite the racket as he walked.
“Your Majesty, he’s arrived.”
Taehyung nodded to his guard and motioned for him to let the visitor in. The masked man walked in and bowed.
“Your Majesty.”
“Don’t act so formal. We’re too close for that.”
The man straightened. “Have you figured out how to deal with Kimun?”
“Not yet. We need an elaborate plan to take him down.”
“Sir, may I tell you something?”
“Speak.”
“Do you know the queen is pregnant?”
——————–
Loud trumpets sounded around the palace.
“The-”
Jungkook slapped his hand over the announcer’s mouth. “Don’t. You. Dare.”
“Ok, ok…” the announcer mumbled. “I won’t.”
“Good. I don’t want to see you again.”
The announcer nodded and ran off.
“JUNGKOOK!”
Jungkook was suddenly attacked by a body. He jumped.
“Yun! My goodness, you scared me!” he hugged her back.
Yun pulled away from him. “I missed you so! I was very disappointed when your letter gave me no return address.”
“Ah…sorry. My family…is secretive, you could say.”
“Well…at least you’re home now!”
Jungkook nodded. “You must excuse me for a while, though. The king requested to see me as soon as I returned.”
“Oh.” Yun stared up at him with wide eyes. “Why?”
Jungkook smiled mysteriously. “Tis’ a secret, milady.”
Yun frowned and punched Jungkook on the shoulder. “You’re no fun.”
“C’mon, you have work to do anyways. Meet me in the courtyard tonight, ok?”
Yun nodded. Jungkook smiled down at her. “Good. See you then.”
——————–
The man was pacing in the room. “I think you need to tell her. I know you don’t think it’s wise to, but she needs to know.”
“I can’t tell her. Not now. The fewer people that know, the safer it is. You know I only told you because you appear low-standing. Someone looking at you would think you are clueless. It’s your best quality.”
“I know. But you still need to tell her. If you tell her, everything will make sense. Do you understand?”
“I do. But this is my choice, not yours. For now, I think it’s best if we don’t tell her.”
“All right. But…just think about it.”
——————–
“Yun.”
“Your Highness? What are you doing out here? It’s late!”
“I got it. I have a plan.”
A new voice joined the conversation. “What?”
“Oh…Jungkook. You’re here too. That’s good. We’ll need you.”
“What are we doing?”
Ahseong looked around. No one was in the courtyard but the three of them. She lowered her voice so only they could hear. “I have a plan on how to catch Kimun.”
