The rest of the week went by without either of them mentioning the lunch they’d had. Taehyung wasn’t sure how to approach her again. Seeing her cry had been horribly awkward. But he was starting to wonder why he hadn’t known she was alive. He thought back eight years. He’d woken up in that bed. Alone. Her father had told him she was gone. That she’d died in her sleep that night. And Taehyung had believed him because her father had always liked him…hadn’t he?
Or had it all been a rouse? He knew there was no way she had really died that night. If she had, they wouldn’t have been able to bring her back. That would’ve surely woken him up. So…what was it?

Nia was walking to work this morning. Her car was in the shop today, and Hobi couldn’t drive her. She stepped into the café she usually had breakfast at. As usual, there was a long line. Hopefully, she could get breakfast and still be on time to work.
She pulled her phone from her pocket as it chimed. It was her mom.
“I got the rest of your stuff packed. Can you come pick it up today?”
“Yeah sure. I’ll come get it after work.”
Once Nia got to the front of the line, she ordered herself a caramel macchiato and a chocolate muffin. She received her items a few minutes later and headed towards the door. But on her way there, she ended up crashing straight into a tall man.
“Hey! Watch where you’re going! You ruined my shirt!” the man exclaimed.
She glanced down. There was a large brown spot on his crisp, white shirt.
“I’m so sorry, sir! I um….”
He sighed and walked away before she could finish. She glanced down at her own shirt. It was also covered in coffee. She heaved a sigh.
She rushed into Kim Inc. twenty minutes later. She was late. And covered in coffee. She was sure this was it. She was getting fired today. She rushed into Mr. Kim’s office. He was pacing the room with his phone held up to his ear.
“Yes, she’s-” he glanced up suddenly as she walked in. “Never mind. She’s here.” He hung up the call and put his phone in his pocket. Then he looked her up and down.
“I apologize, Mr. Kim. My fiancé could not drive me to work this morning and I had to walk.”
“What happened? Your shirt is stained.”
“Oh…I spilled my coffee. It’s nothing.”
“No, no, no. This won’t do. Go find Mrs. Jeon. She’ll get you a new shirt.”
Nia did as she was told. She was shocked he hadn’t fired her on the spot. He was known for having a quick temper with his secretaries. But after the lunch they’d had last week she was convinced he had the heart of a darling. She was just sure of it.
Ten minutes later, as she dressed in the shirt she’d been given, she wondered who it belonged to. It was rather large on her. She cuffed the sleeves and tucked the hem into her skirt. She brought the collar to her nose to smell it. It gave off a musky smell that was a bit bitter. But she liked it. It was clear this shirt had been worn often. But…whose was it?

Taehyung chuckled as Nia entered his office a few minutes later. She was absolutely drowning in his shirt. It reminded him of when she used to steal his sweatshirts and wear them. Her collarbones were peeking out even though she’d buttoned all the buttons but the top one.
“Um…what do I need to do today?” Nia asked as she messed with the shirt. It felt more like a bag than a shirt to her.
“I just need you to do some paperwork for me today.”
“What about lunch?”
Taehyung suppressed a smile. “No. It’s covered today.”
Nia tugged on her sleeve as she attempted to cuff it a bit more. “O-ok….” Why was he making her nervous? She had a fiancé! She couldn’t be attracted to her boss!
She let out a shaky breath and headed to her office to start today’s work. Hopefully, the rest of the day would go smoothly.
