She was lost. In Yoongi’s breath. It was stealing across her lips. Promising delights hidden in his kiss. He hadn’t moved towards her yet, but she could feel that he wanted to.
Suddenly, she didn’t care that it was three in the morning. Or that she was alone with a man in his apartment. She just wanted Yoongi. His sweetness. His essence. His attention. His affection. His kiss.
So she moved her head just a smidge. To present him with her lips. And his heart started racing. His eyes were still tracing those lips. But his heart felt like it was trying to escape his chest.
He had never – not once in all his years – felt the way he did right now. How had one woman turned his whole life upside down and made him happy about it? She’d exposed his heart, yet he wanted to thank her for it. So he opened his mouth. But what fell out surprised even him.
“I love you.”
He hadn’t even realized he’d said it aloud. Not until her eyes flew open. That was the moment his head bent towards hers, and his lips brushed her mouth. Which had also fallen open.
As his kiss enveloped her, her eyes fluttered shut again. She reveled in the feel of his mouth against hers. His lips were so much softer than she would have guessed. They felt like coming home to a sweet bed and falling back with a sigh of relief to rest on pillows that engulfed her. Pillows that swallowed her whole in a soft embrace that comforted her completely.
She tasted him. Until she closed her mouth. His essence was still filling her sinuses even then. Something earthy. Like black coffee. Yet it wasn’t bitter. It was just…Yoongi.
She made a quick judgment. This was the kiss she’d been waiting her whole life for. The one that sealed the deal for her. The one that made her weak in the knees. The one that made her yearn for more of him.
In that most beautiful of moments, she decided something else too. Even if she didn’t understand him or his motives, she was going to trust her heart to him. She was going to believe the best of him. Until he proved her wrong. Hopefully, he never would.
“Yoongi,” she whispered against his lips.
His lips stilled under hers. “Hmm?”
“I love you too.”
As something deep and sharp pierced his heart with a pain he hadn’t expected, she kissed him with all the passion she’d been trying to deny for weeks now. She put so many elements of her heart into that kiss.
The pain of the moments she’d believed he was rejecting her. Her tears became part of her kiss then. He reached his hand up and cupped her face even as her lips danced with his. And his thumb gently brushed across that wet path.
Her kiss also released the relief she’d experienced the times his heart had clearly been embracing her. Her giggle exploded into his mouth then. An answering joy escaped him through a chuckle that breathed his life into her mouth.
Then her kiss overwhelmed him with the tender something that shifted in her soul every time his eyes locked with hers. That gentleness was being communicated through her lips too and the sob that suddenly escaped her mouth to be enveloped by his. And his other arm laced itself around her then, drawing her close to his heart.
His lips left her own to travel across her tearstained cheek on their way to her waiting ear. “I love you, Nari. I love you.”
Had he ever spoken those words to anyone?
They held a wonderful power he hadn’t realized before this moment. His heart was bursting with the weight of them now. And the freedom that he felt in releasing them. He wasn’t even aware of how many times he said them. Only of the inescapable peace that flooded his soul every single time he uttered them.
I love you too 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
