4 years later…

“Nina!”

“Yes?”

“Whose house are we doing dinner at tonight?  I forgot again.”

“You need to stop calling them houses.  They’re dorms.”

“Fine!  Whose dorm are we having dinner at tonight?”

“Jimin and Tae’s.”

“Great!”

“What are you up to, Mina?”

“What?  Nothing!”

Nina shook her head, catching a glimpse of her sister’s sparkling ring.  She sighed.  Jimin hadn’t proposed to her yet.  And Tae and Mina had been engaged for over a year now.  Would Jimin ever propose?  They were graduating college in 6 months already.

——————–

“Don’t forget your coat!” Mina hollered as she ran out the door.

Nina had never seen her sister in such a hurry before.  Still, Mina had been dressed up.  Even in this weather.  Nina was sure Mina thought she hadn’t noticed.  It had only been a step up from what she usually wore.  But it had been a big enough step to make Nina suspicious.

Twenty minutes later, they arrived at the boys’ dorm.  Mina burst out of the car and eagerly knocked on the door.  Tae answered it.  Wearing a coat.  Nina’s brow furrowed.

“You ready to go?” Tae asked Mina, bending down to peck her lips softly.

Mina grinned up at him. “Yep!”

“Wait…” Nina looked back and forth between the two of them. “We’re not having dinner here tonight?”

Tae laughed. “Nope.  Jimin has a surprise for you.  So, we,” he turned to Mina and scooped her up suddenly. “Better be going.”

Mina held her hand out to Nina. “Give me the keys.”

Nina sighed and handed over the keys to their shared car. “You better take care of it!”

“We will!” Tae and Mina both exclaimed.

Nina tapped on the door before stepping into the house. “Jimin…?”

“Oh?  You’re here already?” Jimin yelled from his bedroom. “Hang on I’ll be out in a minute!”

A few minutes later Jimin emerged, dressed and ready to go.

“So, where are we going?” Nina asked.

“It’s a secret,” Jimin responded.

“Ah…I see.” Nina giggled.

“Let’s go.” Jimin grabbed her hand and tugged her out the door and towards his car.

A few minute later, they arrived at the lake.  It was glittering in the lights that illuminated the surrounding path.

Nina gasped.

“This is where we had our first date, remember?”

Nina giggled. “Well, it wasn’t as icy last time.”

Jimin laughed. “True.  Do you want to go take a walk?”

Nina nodded and unbuckled her seatbelt.

A couple minutes later as the wandered down the path hand in hand, Jimin slowly pulled them to a stop.  Nina turned back to him in surprise.

“Look,” Jimin pointed up at the sky.

Nina followed the line of his finger up to the full moon.  She gasped. “Oh wow…it’s so beautiful.”

“Not as beautiful as you,” he whispered into her ear.

Nina turned to look at him.  He grasped both of her hands then. “Did you think we’d last this long?”

Nina stared up at him, wondering why he’d asked this so suddenly.

“I…I don’t know.”

“Well…I want us to last even longer.”

Nina’s eyes widened as Jimin suddenly got down on one knee and pulled a small box from the pocket of his coat.

“Nina…will you marry me?”

Tears were streaming down her face now as she nodded. “Yes!  Yes, Jimin, I’ll marry you!”

Jimin grinned and jumped up, spinning Nina around before kissing her soundly on the lips.

“I love you,” Nina whispered into the kiss.

“I love you too.”
