“Is mine!”
“No! Is mine!”
Jin sighed. This had been going on for nearly 18 hours now. He’d gotten the younger twins a shared birthday gift. But instead of sharing it like he had hoped, they had been screaming and fighting over it. For the past day.
Jin looked down at Kookie, who was silently cuddled into his side on the couch. Usually he was a very active and chattery little kid, but it was clear that he didn’t want to be in the middle of his two older brothers fighting.
“All right, that’s enough, you two.” Jin stood from the couch, instantly taking the toy from the twins. They both instantly burst into tears and started trying to climb Jin to get it.
“You don’t get the toy back,” Jin said calmly but firmly. “You’ve been disturbing the peace in out house for almost a day now. So, you’re both going to sit in a corner until you want to apologize to each other.
The toy went up on the shelf, and the twins were both sat in separate corners.
“You two are going to sit here until you’ve made up. You can sit here are long as you want, but I’m not letting you get up until you’ve both apologized to each other.”
Jimin sniffled loudly, letting his tears spill down his face silently. Tae, on the other hand, was sobbing loudly into the carpet as he lay there curled up into a ball.
An hour later, they’d made no progress but for the fact that Tae had cried himself to sleep. Jimin was just sitting there, watching his twin sleep. Occasionally, Tae would hiccup and wake himself up a bit, but every time he’d fall back asleep almost immediately.
Jimin was just sitting there staring at him. Nearly another whole hour passed before Tae woke up. When he did, he looked up at Jimin and pouted.
“Tae-Tae, why you fall asleep?”
“’m dun’ know.”
“Have you two made up yet?” Jin asked, popping his head out from the kitchen. He was already making dinner.
The twins just pouted at him.
“I’ll take that as a no.”
And the twins were back to pouting down at the carpet.
“’m sorry, Tae-Tae.”
There was a long silence before Tae responded. “’m sorry too…” He sniffled and ran over to Jimin, quickly sitting down next to him and hugging him.
After a few minutes of them sitting on the floor together, Jin appeared.
“Are you two ready to come eat dinner now?”
They both nodded.
“Do you have anything you’d like to say to me?”
The twins both returned their gaze to the carpet, guiltily pouting down at it.
“’m sorry, Appa,” they both mumbled at the same time.
Jin smiled down at his two tiny boys. “You’re forgiven. C’mere.”
As soon as Jin had his younger twins in his arms, he walked over to the couch and sat them both on his lap.
“How do you two feel now? Are you going to fight over your toy again?”
Two tiny heads shook.
“Good. You can have the toy back tomorrow if you both want to share it, ok? I don’t want you to fight over something as silly as a toy.”
Tae was crying again, but silently this time. Jin never really understood why the tiny boy got himself into so much trouble. He always ended up in tears when he got in trouble. It hurt Jin’s heart, but he knew he had to be strict.
Jimin was also crying, staring up at Jin with his little puppy eyes. He rarely got into big trouble like this. Usually all it took was a short lecture or a simple scolding to get him to behave.
Jin sighed and pulled his two little boys into a hug.
“You know I love you guys, don’t you?”
Two little heads nodded once again.
“Good.” Jin kissed the top of both of their heads. “How about we go eat dinner and then get ready for bed, ok? You two are tired.”
