“Hey.”
Nani opened her phone. Jae had just texted the group chat.
“Do you guys want to get together for a movie on Saturday?”
Jordan responded almost immediately. “Jae! We just spent a week together and you want to go out again?”
Nani laughed. She was about to respond on the affirmative when she remembered what Jinie had told her on the plane.
“Why can’t I want to see my three best friends?” Jae asked.
Jinie was the next one to respond. “I’m busy Saturday, sorry.”
“Oh, come on! You’re always busy!” Jordan replied.
“Can you blame me? I have too big of a social circle.”
“That’s too true…” Nani put her two cents in.
“Is everyone else free?” Jae asked.
“I’m not…” Nani replied.
“… :/ Guess it’s just me and Jordan then…”
“What movie we seeing?”
——————-
Nani was giddy as she drove to Jinie’s apartment complex Saturday afternoon. They’d agreed to meet at her apartment since it was closer to the stadium. When Nani arrived, Jinie was standing at the entrance waiting for her. Nani looked up the huge building for a second, still amazed at how tall it was. Jinie jumped in the car a moment later.
“You excited for tonight?”
“Excited? More like nervous!”
Jinie laughed. “Well, forget about tonight for a while and enjoy the concert.”
“Easier said than done,” Nani mumbled.
“Oh, come on! I’ll be with you the whole time. And you survived without me last weekend, didn’t you?”
Nani huffed. “Yeah, please never do that again.”
Jinie made a face that looked like she was thinking. “Ok…” she smiled. “But no promises.”
Nani groaned and switched the car into drive. Then they were off to the stadium.
Half an hour later, they were inside the stadium. It was only a 7-minute drive from Jinie’s apartment, and they’d had the bright idea to not bring bags. On top of that, neither of them had any other merch they wanted to buy, so they were at their seats in no time. Well, with the exception of their stop at the concessions stand.
Nani was practically bouncing in her seat. She was so nervous for that night. Part of her wished Jinie hadn’t told her they were meeting up with Tae and Jimin afterwards.
Nani managed to last the concert. Jinie seemed much more animated at this concert than she had at the last. Nani considered the irony. At the last concert, she’d been the one with all the energy, and Jinie had been nervous enough to ruin her own mood. This time it was the opposite.
By the time they made it out of the stadium that night, it was nearing midnight. Jinie insisted on driving because she had the address. Nani couldn’t help but wonder if it had something to do with the fact that she was shaking, though. She had no clue why she was. She and Jimin had been getting along just fine over text. But she was nervous to see him in person again.
