Christmas Chaos – Chapter 9: One, Two, Three, Four

Thankfully, lunch rolled past without any more incidents.  Xia, Oreun, and the triplets were all put down for a nap.  This left Namji, Ara, Hajoon, and Junseo playing in the living room.  The blocks had stopped being interesting by now, and the kids were all playing with cars now.  Surely something new would keep them interested enough to stay out of trouble, right?

Well, that assumption proved to be wrong when Hajoon drove his car through Ara’s hair.  The car wheels were firmly stuck in her hair, and she was screaming.  Out of pain or out of anger, no one knew.  Yeongjin tried desperately to get the car out of Ara’s hair, but nothing she did seemed to work.  There was only one solution.  They would have to cut it out of her hair.

Ara’s hair was already pretty short.  It barely brushed her shoulders and was still very thin.  Thankfully, Hajoon had driven the car across the front of her head, and Yeongjin had managed to loosen it a little, so hopefully it wouldn’t look too bad.

Once the car had been cut out, Ara had a shelf of choppy bangs at the front of her head.  They were definitely too short, but they would grow out in a few months and they would be able to cut them properly.

Hajoon’s car wasn’t as lucky.  The wheels were so full of hair that they couldn’t turn, and it ultimately had to be thrown out.  Much to Hajoon’s despair.

Namjoon decided all three of their kids needed to get out of the house.  He decided the best course of action would be to take them out to the arcade.  (And of course, he decided to take Jin with him, so he wasn’t keeping an eye on three kids by himself.)  The snow had died down only an hour after it had started, so by now the roads were clear and there was about half a foot of snow on the ground.

What Namjoon hadn’t anticipated was for it to start snowing again.  It was nearing five when he decided to head home.  It had already started to snow when they headed towards the car.  By the time everyone was in the car and buckled, it was coming down harder.

They got home safely, but they were all covered in frozen powder by the time they stepped into the house.  The kids would be getting their second bath of the day now.

The half foot of snow had quickly grown to a foot by dinner time.  Xia kept asking if they could go outside and play, but every time she asked, she was told no.

Everyone decided the best course of action for the night would be to split up all the little kids.  They didn’t need anymore fights happening today, nor did they need any more injured kids.  They mostly just needed to separate the twins.  Those two had been going at each other all day and had injured a few other kids in the process.

Namji and Hajoon were sent to the toy room, and they stuck Xia, Ara, and Junseo in the game room while Jungkook, Tae, and Jin played games together.

As the night wore on, the little kids started to get tired.  All five toddlers were sent to bed around ten.  The guys crowded into the game room to have some quality guy time, so the girls were left alone in the living room with the babies.

Hojin, Hyungmin, and Oreun were all asleep on Aeja, Ireun, and Eunjin’s laps.  Hyunjun was still wide awake and sitting on Yeongjin’s lap playing with blocks.  Taemin was laying in Xun’s lap, happily cooing up at his mom.  Miyun and Yumi were off in their own world, cramming cookies into their mouths off the tray left for Santa.

“Ireun, I don’t know how you do it!” Eunjin exclaimed. “How can you raise three babies at once?  Oreun by herself is a handful.  I can’t imagine raising triplets!”

Ireun laughed. “Well, my mom had quadruplets when I was 19, so I helped her out a lot.  I guess I’m just used to having more than one baby in the house.”

The six other girls just gaped at her.

“Your mom has quadruplets?” Xun asked incredulously.

Ireun nodded. “Three boys and one girl.”

“And she had them when you were nineteen?” Yumi asked.

“Yup,” Ireun replied, popping the ‘p’.

After another moment of silence, Ireun picked the plate of cookies up off the table. “Anyone want a cookie?”
