By the time that evening rolled around, everyone was exhausted. Most of the adults were ready to go to bed, but they couldn’t exactly put the kids down for bed so early. It was, after all, only seven. If they put the kids down for bed now, they’d be up again at two am. And no one needed that. So, they had to drag themselves through the next few hours.
None of the kids were occupied by their toys or the tv anymore. They found neither things very interesting. Which meant the adults now had to improvise. Hobi had the ingenious idea to have the toddlers help them start packing up suitcases.
In retrospect, it seemed to not be the best idea. But no one wanted to chase little kids around for the next two to three hours, so they were all put on folding duty. Folding their own clothes, that is. Namji and Junseo were happy to do it. Ara, Hajoon, and Xia, on the other hand; they started complaining.
“Appaaaaaa. Don’t wanna fold.” Xia whined, throwing herself down on the bed dramatically. Tae chuckled.
“Why not? It’s fun. And if we do it now, we don’t have to do it in the morning.”
Xia just pouted up at him.
“All right, how about this, you go find all your toys and put them in your bag so no one else accidently takes them home?”
“Ok!” Xia was up and off the bed in seconds, running out of the room to go find all her toys. Tae shook his head.
Meanwhile, Ara and Hajoon were making packing difficult for Namjoon, Yeongjin, and Namji. So maybe having them help pack hadn’t been such a good idea. Ara had decided to rebel by throwing the folded clothes everywhere. Namjoon ultimately gave up trying to get them to fold clothes and took them to the playroom. To clean. The room was a disaster because no one had cleaned it up all day. More grumbling ensued. But at least they couldn’t undo anyone’s folding work now.
While Ara and Hajoon picked up toys and put them into bins, Xia was busy gathering all her toys. In turn, she was digging through some of the toy bins and making a mess. The twins weren’t too happy about this. She was basically undoing all their hard work.
“Xia! No throw toys!” Hajoon exclaimed.
“But you put away my toys!” Xia yelled back.
Thankfully, Tae showed up nearly immediately to deal with Xia.
“Xi, what are you doing?”
“I’m finding toys!”
“Did you make a mess?”
Xia looked around before looking back up at Tae with a pout on her face. “Yes…”
“Ok, you need to clean it up then. Ara and Hajoon were cleaning, and when you throw all the toys everywhere, they have to clean it up again.”
Xia continued to pout and started picking up the toys she’d thrown on the ground.
As the kids finished cleaning the room up, Namjoon sighed and turned to Tae.
“Do you think we’ll get any downtime tonight?”
“I sure hope so…”
