Jeongyeon ignored Jin’s calling to her. She would talk to him later. Right now she was curious about the boy sitting in the corner table. She headed over to sit next to him.
“Excuse me. Is anyone sitting here?”
Jeongyeon asked, motioning to the seat next to him. He looked up at her. Then he shook his head.
“You can sit there.”
Jeongyeon slid into the seat next to him and pulled her lunch bag out. She set it on the table.
“I’m Jeongyeon. What’s your name?”
The boy put his book down.
“Namjoon.” He held out his hand to her. “Nice to meet you.”
She smiled and shook his hand. “Nice to meet you too.” She glanced down at the book. “What are you reading?”
“Romeo and Juliet.” His face flushed a bit. “I’ve read it a few times now.”
Jeongyeon smiled. “I’ve never really liked it. It was too tragic for me.”
Namjoon nodded. “Well, it is quite sad. It’s the book we’re reading in book club right now. And although I’ve already read it, I figured I could read it again.”
“You’re in book club?”
“Yeah. It’s not an in-school club. We meet during breaks and vacations too. I’m in gardening club more often. It’s very relaxing. It doesn’t require the complex emotions that book club does,” he chuckled.
“Ah, well. I’d suppose so.”
Namjoon held his book out to her. “Would you like to read Romeo and Juliet?”
