“Minaaaaaaaa! Get up! We have to leave for school in half an hour!” Nina smacked her twin sister in the face with a pillow.
“Ugh…you know I can get ready in five minutes…give me twenty more minutes!” Mina shoved Nina away.
“Mina! C’mon! Tae’s gonna be here to pick us up and you need to be ready!”
Mina reacted to the mention of her boyfriend. “Ugh…fine.” She sat up. “I’ll be out in a minute.”
Nina headed out to the kitchen to get some breakfast. Mina joined her a few minutes later, her long, dark hair now pulled back into a braid.
“I can’t believe it’s our last year of school,” Nina commented as she made her lunch for the day.
Mina simply hummed in response as she poured milk into her cereal bowl. “Maybe you’ll finally find a boyfriend this year,” she teased.
“Shut up. You know you got lucky finding Tae so soon.” Nina grinned.
“You’re twenty three minutes older, though. Shouldn’t you have found a boyfriend first?”
Nina chucked a bag of apples at Mina. “Pack your lunch.”

“I can’t believe we have different math classes again!” Nina whined as they sat at lunch.
“Why are you surprised? You know I’m in honors math!”
Nina pouted. “I know, but that doesn’t mean I like it…”
“Hey! At least the rest of our classes are together! You have nothing to complain about!”
Nina continued pouting as she shoved a bite of rice into her mouth. Before she could snap back, Tae slammed his lunch tray onto the table. He plopped down into the other chair next to Mina.
“There was supposed to be a new kid coming today…I wanted to welcome him.” Tae blew a puff of air up to his bangs. “But so far I haven’t seen anyone new…”
Mina shrugged. “I’m sure he’ll appear eventually. This school is huge.”
——————–
Nina sat on the front steps of the school as she waited for Tae and Mina. Their math class had probably run late. Kids were tripping around her in an attempt to reach their ride home. It probably wasn’t the smartest idea to be sitting on the steps, but she didn’t care at this moment in time.
Suddenly it was raining papers over her head. She looked around. A boy was kneeling on the ground at the top of the stairs attempting to collect the papers. Nina stood and started picking up the loose papers. Once all the papers were off the ground, she approached the boy.
“Here,” she held the stack of paper out to him.
The boy nodded at her as he accepted the papers. “Thank you…” he pushed his glasses back up the bridge of his nose.
“What’s your name? I haven’t seen you around before.” Nina asked, smiling at him. This must be the boy Tae had been talking about.
“I’m Jimin,” the boy replied, his dark hair falling into his eyes as he bowed slightly.
“I’m Nina.” She offered her hand for him to shake.
Jimin grasped her hand and shook it gently. “Nice to meet you.”
Suddenly his phone chimed. He pulled it from his pocket. “Oh! I have to go! My brother is here to pick me up!” he bowed his head slightly to Nina. “See you around?”
Nina nodded. “Sure.”
A few minutes later, Tae and Mina rushed out of the school.
“Sorry!” Mina exclaimed as she ran up to Nina. “Class ran late. Mrs. Kim is ridiculous! She insists the bell doesn’t release us! She does!”
Nina snickered. Maybe she was glad she wasn’t bright enough at math to be in that class with the two of them.
“After that class, I need ice cream. Probably a sundae. With extra caramel.” Tae commented suddenly.
Both of the girls just stared at him. Mina reached out and patted his shoulder.
“You can get your ice cream after you drop us at home.”
Tae frowned. “I still can’t believe you two don’t like sugar anymore! I remember when we were in middle school and we’d have movie marathons and eat ice cream and Choco Boys by the cartons!”
“Yeah, well, that was before sugar equaled gaining weight.” Nina pursed her lips. “And if you stop eating sugar for long enough, it gets too sweet.”
Tae shook his head. “I don’t understand how you two even did that.”
Mina shrugged. “I honestly don’t even remember.”
Tae pulled out his phone and looked at the time. “I suppose you two need to get home. Isn’t Jin home already?”
Nina nodded. “His last class is at one.”
“All right. Let’s go.”
