The adults were all up late that night. There were finally no more toddlers to cause catastrophes, and most of the babies were asleep now. Except Taemin. But he couldn’t cause much trouble. Ireun stuck the triplets in the playpen Tae and Xun had brought with them. Oreun stayed on Yoongi’s lap instead of being put in bed.
Aeja had realized she still needed to make the cinnamon roll dough if they wanted to eat cinnamon rolls in the morning, so she headed out to the kitchen to start on that. Since Eunjin was now free of Oreun, she decided to go help Aeja.
Everyone else was still in the living room chatting about how their life had been during college. They were all up until around two am, when Jin put his foot down and pointed out that the kids would be up at eight regardless of what time all of them went to bed.
Ireun and Hobi went to collect their three kiddos from Tae and Xun’s room before everyone went to bed.

Sure enough, Jin had been right. At eight am, all the toddlers were awake. Well, all the toddlers except Junseo. But Junseo was never up early.
Xia was bouncing on Tae and Xun’s bed the moment she was fully awake. Tae was quick to set her down on the floor so she didn’t jump on her brother.
Ara and Hajoon were teaming up for once to wake up their parents. Namji had decided it was a better idea to just go out to the kitchen, so it was just the two of them pouncing on their parents.
“Appa, wake up!” Ara exclaimed.
Namjoon opened one eye slightly. Then he closed it again, feigning sleep.
“Appaaaaa,” Ara whined.
Hajoon had seen Ara’s failure to wake up their dad and moved onto Yeongjin.
“Ma! Wake up! It’s Christmas!”
Before the twins knew it, they were both being tackled with tickles by one of their parents.
Everyone was finally up half an hour later. Even Taemin. Aeja had just pulled the cinnamon rolls out of the oven a couple minutes before, and she was now plating them. A few moments later all the little kids were eating one. Hopefully, no one would need a bath this morning.
Many sticky hands and sticky forks later, they were all finally sitting in the living room. Or at least, the adults were. The kids were digging through the presents at the bottom the tree.
“This one’s mine!” Junseo exclaimed, pulling out a large box. He tried escaping the pile of kids, but instead he tripped over Xia. Great. Now they were both crying.
Jin stepped in to help divide up the presents so no one else got hurt. After a few minutes, each kid had their own pile of presents. Now it was time to open all of them. Before anyone could figure out who was opening presents first, all the toddlers were already tearing apart wrapping paper. At this point, everyone was too exhausted to care.
Once the toddlers were all done, it was the triplets’ and Oreun’s turn to open presents. By the end of the hour, the entire floor was covered in wrapping paper and bows. Maybe next year they would just hand the kids their gifts.
Kids up at 8, in your dreams, more like 5am 🙂
