It was now officially Christmas Eve. And things were already going wrong at seven o’clock in the morning. Ara and Hajoon had been fighting over some toy they both wanted, and for some reason they had been in the living room. Ara shoved Hajoon into the tree, which in turn fell over onto Junseo, who had been innocently playing with his toys. So maybe having a Christmas tree in a house full of little, tiny kids hadn’t been the best idea.
Junseo started crying, and Yumi rushed out from the kitchen the moment she heard him burst into tears. Jin came to her aid to right the tree while she comforted Junseo. He didn’t seem hurt but for the few small scratches on his arms, thankfully.
The twins didn’t fare as well, though. On top of having a few splinters from being shoved into the tree, Hajoon also had to join his sister on the stairs for ten minutes. Both of them were throwing a fit as Namjoon sat them on the stairs.
If it hadn’t been seven am, this probably wouldn’t have been that big of a deal. But the temper tantrums had woken Xia up, and she was now also crying. Tae made a mental note not to have her sleep on the couch again.
Fifteen minutes and four mugs of hot cocoa later, the house seemed to have settled again. All the adults sighed a sigh of relief. But now they had another problem on their hands. When the tree had fallen on Junseo, it had also broken a few ornaments. And now Oreun was awake and crawling around the living room with an unsuspecting Yoongi watching her.
Before they knew it, she was crying as well, and Jin and Tae were digging through the carpet trying to find the few pieces of glass that they had apparently missed when cleaning up the mess. Yoongi was in the kitchen trying to hold Oreun still while Aeja attempted to pull a piece of glass out of the 1-year-old’s hand. Jin and Aeja both made mental notes to change the way they dressed their tree next year if not ditching it altogether.
By the time eight am rolled around, everyone was exhausted and ready to go back to bed. The fact that breakfast had never gotten made didn’t help. They ultimately decided cooking would probably be a bad idea and decided to order something instead.
Just when they thought that day couldn’t get any worse, it started snowing while Aeja and Jin were out getting breakfast. That snowstorm appeared to be slowly descending into a blizzard. Thank goodness the girls had gone shopping the day before.
They all sat in the living room eating bagels that morning contemplating if this trip had really been that good of an idea. Especially after Hyungmin smashed his hand into one of the containers of cream cheese.
Most of the little kids needed a bath after breakfast (maybe cream cheese hadn’t been the best idea with a bunch of kids under four in the house.) Junseo and the twins were both completely exhausted after their baths, so they all went down for a nap.
With three fifths of the toddlers napping, the morning would be less chaotic, right?
Wrong.
I can see all the chaos in my minds eye, too funny ! Poor Jin, he’s never going to want kids.
