April wasn’t yet awake when the knock sounded.  But she flew out of bed anyway.  She hadn’t been sure he’d show up today.  But she wanted to make certain that he was all right.  She’d worried about him all day yesterday.  So she flung the door wide.  And disturbed an incredibly handsome gentleman walking slowly down the hallway. 

He stopped and spun around when she opened the door.  His great, obsidian eyes flew wide.  She sighed in disappointment.  This man was adorable.  But he wasn’t her mystery man.

“Are you all right?” a soft voice erupted from this new stranger’s face as he opened his mouth in concern.

She nodded.  And noted that he was speaking in English.  “Thank you.  Just concerned about a friend I haven’t heard from.”

His brow puckered.  “I’m sure your friend will be okay.”  He was mostly speaking to himself.  Trying to reassure himself that Tae was really all right.  “Have a good day,” he mumbled before heading for the elevator.

She’d been too fast for Jungkook.  He could have sprinted down the hallway, but he’d decided that acting none the wiser was the better tack to take. 

April watched that dark head until it disappeared inside the elevator.  Then she glanced down at the box on the floor at her feet.  He must be okay.  She sighed with relief.

Clearly, the man was all right.  He’d delivered a fifth present this morning.  So, why hadn’t he shown up for their date yesterday? 

Had he had second thoughts?  Decided he was willing to give her presents.  But not his time?

She sighed in disappointment.  Maybe the note inside the box would explain the situation.  Perhaps he’d just lost track of time.  Whatever the case was, she hoped this present solved the mystery.

Today’s gift was hidden within another white box.  She lifted the lid after removing its purple ribbon.  Purple today.  Hmm.  Interesting.  The others had been red.

She unearthed a violet velvet box.  And her eyebrows jumped up to challenge the floor over her head.  This looked like a jewelry box.  The kind that expensive jewelry came in.  What had her mystery man done?

She lifted the velvet lid and gasped as her eyes took in the purple heart dangling from a golden chain.  The facets of the large amethyst caught the light, their sides dancing happily.  She turned it this way and that just to enjoy its sparkle a little while longer.  Then she dug through the box looking for a note.

She found it.

“I love purple hearts too.  To me, they symbolize a pure love that lasts forever.  I saw your ring and decided it needed a complement.  When I found this pendant, I knew it was a perfect fit.  I hope that – as you wear it – you’ll always remember that someone in Seoul is cheering you on.”

The note was short, sweet, and simple today.  And oddly enough, it didn’t allude to his absence of yesterday.  She sighed in frustration.  Where on earth was the man hiding?  And why?
