Chapter 7: Just How Special Is the Real Me?
Cami didn’t wake up till after eight o’clock. And she didn’t even find Nami’s texted link until after eight-thirty. She finished listening to his song for the first time at a quarter till nine. She was so in love with it that she almost forgot that Namjoon was releasing his new song at eleven.
Around nine, another message came through from Nami.
“So…what did you think? Do you like the song?”
“I LOVE THE SONG!!!”

Nami’s lips quirked as he read her message. He felt an immense sense of relief. She’d liked it. He knew if he could please her, his song would be a hit. He watched as her next text came through.
“But you never told me you were a guy.”
He bit his lip.
“I never said I wasn’t.”
“No. But the vast majority of ARMYs are girls, so I just assumed you were a girl.”
“Yeah…I’ve learned that assumptions are dangerous. Are you upset that I’m a guy?”
She made him wait an entire minute before she responded to that question.
“No…just surprised…but really, your song is amazing! It’s so beautiful. I’ve already listened to it five times! And memorized half of it.”
He smiled as he read that message. That was more words than she had ever before strung together in a text.
“I’m glad you like it.” Then a moment later, “Really glad.”
“I do! You are really talented…I’m going to memorize it now.”
His lips twisted again. He had picked the right person to share it with.
“Thank you, Nami, for sharing it with me.”

By the time eleven o’clock rolled around, she had already listened to Echoing Light over two dozen times. She had it memorized. Every time she listened to it, she fell a little more in love with it.
Still, it didn’t prepare her for the shock that awaited her. At eleven o’clock, she clicked on the Big Hit Labels YouTube channel to find Namjoon’s new song. Her mouth fell open when she saw the title.

NO WAY. NO WAY. NO WAY!!!
There was no way Nami was Namjoon. She’d already been down this path. But she couldn’t deny it any longer a moment later as the song she’d already memorized began to play in her ear.
Nami was Namjoon! And he had let her in on his secret four hours early! She was blown away. Namjoon had trusted her with his precious song. Little, unimportant Cami.
Only, that wasn’t how Namjoon saw her.
Namjoon saw her. Namjoon saw her. Namjoon had been talking to her for days. Namjoon. The great and mighty leader of BTS had befriended her, Cami, ordinary girl that she was.
Why?
Just then, a text from him came through.
“Still feeling unimportant and unseen? Unworthy and unvalued? You were the first person – outside of my production crew and the other guys – that I shared my new song with. That’s how special you are, Cami. That’s how important you are to me. You are worthy of love.”
