Nia stayed asleep until the next morning. She rolled over. Hadn’t she fallen asleep on the balcony last night? She stared up at her ceiling, trying to recall anything from last night that would tell her what had happened. But her mind was blank. Had she imagined falling asleep on the balcony? Or had Taehyung brought her in here?
She rolled out of bed and pushed open the curtains. Blinding light flooded through her windows, and she pulled her curtains shut again. She blinked. Maybe she should just head to the kitchen.
When she entered the kitchen, she found Taehyung seated at the table reading the newspaper as he sipped on a steaming beverage. The kitchen smelled suspiciously of coffee. Since when did he drink coffee? He hated coffee. She crossed the room, coming to a stop in front of him. He looked up at her.
“Good morning,” he greeted her.
“Are you drinking coffee?”
He raised his eyebrow. “Yes…?”
She placed her palm on his forehead. “Are you feeling all right? Should I take you to the doctor?”
He chuckled and pushed her hand away gently. “I’m fine.”
“You don’t look fine. Last time I checked, you hated coffee.”
“I did. I thought I’d give it another try.”
“And…?”
“And it’s good. You want some?”
She stared down at him dumbly. “Um…sure.”
This reminded her of something. It was irking her that she couldn’t remember. But then it came to her.
——————–
She and Tae had gone to a café one night. They’d liked going on dates later at night. They loved the dark, and there were less people out. But this one particular night, it had started raining. They’d been walking, so they rushed into the first building they saw. Which had just so happened to be a coffee shop.
Tae had always professed a hate for coffee. And that night, she forced him to try it. When the waitress had brought them their order, he’d pouted down at the cup.
“Do I have to?”
“Yes! If you don’t like it, you don’t have to finish it.”
He sighed and took a sip. Then he looked up at her with an annoyed look on his face.
“What? Do you like it?”
“…yes…” he mumbled in defeat.
She giggled. “Oh, you do?”
He set down the cup and stared out the window at the pouring raining, a pout still on his face. She smiled and pinched his cheek.
“Drink more of it.”
He stayed silent.
“Fine, I guess I’ll drink it, then.”
He spun around. “No! It’s mine!”
She smiled and picked it up before taking a sip of it. “Mmm! This is good, you were right!”
He frowned. She bit back a laugh and handed him the cup back.
“You want this?”
He instantly brought the cup to his mouth and took a huge gulp of it. then he it back on the table, his cheeks now bulging as he swallowed the liquid. She covered her mouth, attempting not to laugh. She didn’t want to accidently make him spit the coffee everywhere. But he was so cute. She couldn’t help but stare at him.
“Hey, are you there?”
Nia blinked as Taehyung waved his hand in front of her face, bringing her back to the present.
“Tae…I remembered something!”
