8 years later….
Taehyung stepped from his convertible, slamming the door shut behind him. He handed his keys to his assistant, who simply nodded in response. This was routine by now.
“Mr. Kim, you have a meeting with your new secretary at seven thirty this morning.”
Taehyung nodded curtly. “She better be on time. Tell her if she’s not, she’s fired on the spot.”
“Yes, sir.”
Taehyung was the CEO of Kim Inc. His father had suddenly appeared six years ago and handed the company to him. Taehyung couldn’t complain. He was living in the lap of luxury now.
“Sir, coff-”
“For the last time, Mrs. Lee, I don’t like coffee.”
Taehyung shook his head. The nice old lady had a terrible memory. Why she still worked here, he had no idea. But he was too gracious to fire her.
“Mr. Kim, Korea Hot magazine is asking to interview you again.”
“What did I say last time?”
“No.” A pause. “Right. So, it’s no again.”
“Correct.”
“Sir, your new secretary is waiting for you in your office.”
“She’s early? That’s new. Maybe I’ll keep this one.”
“I sure hope so…” his assistant muttered under her breath.
“What was that?” Taehyung snapped.
“Nothing, sir.”
He let out a puff of air. “I need to go interview my new secretary. I expect my next meeting to be ready by the time I get there.”
His assistant nodded. “Yes, sir. Of course.”
——————–
Taehyung walked into his office. A girl sat in a chair across from his seat at his desk. Her hair brushed her shoulders as she stared down at her lap.
“Ms. Choi?”
Suddenly her dark hair swiveled around her face as she turned around.
“Y-yes sir, that’s me.”
Taehyung’s eyes widened. He had to be dreaming. She looked exactly like…Nia?
“Mr. Kim?”
He was snapped out of his reverie by her questioning. She didn’t remember him. But how was she even here? She had died eight years ago.
“Right.” Taehyung blinked himself back to reality. “I must say, you are off to a good start. Everyone else who has tried to replace my old secretary has had a terrible perception of time.”
It was odd. She had never been on time all those years ago. She had always been terribly late.
He seated himself across from her. Hopefully, this interview would go well.
——————–
The first thing Taehyung noticed as she left was the sparkling diamond ring on her finger. There was no gold band to match it yet. She was engaged? To whom? He supposed it had been eight years. Honestly, he was still wondering how she was alive. Had her parents lied to him? He’d never seen her lifeless body, but he hadn’t questioned it. What was going on here?
“Mr. Kim, what do you think of your new secretary? Will you keep her?”
“Yes. This is the one.”
His assistant looked up at him in surprise. “Really? We’re not firing her?”
“No. She seems to be a good fit for the company.”
His assistant nodded. She knew not to argue with her boss. “All right, sir. You want her here tomorrow at seven?”
“Yes.”
Taehyung really hoped this was the right choice. He had so many questions for Nia. But he wasn’t quite sure how to ask them. For now, he would just keep her at his side.
