“Hey, what’s your address?”
Nia sighed as she set down her notebook to glance at her phone. Moon had texted her.
“Why?”
“Cause I just got back in town and I want to come see you.”
“Don’t you need to unpack all your stuff?”
“I’ll do it later. Now send me your address or else I’ll ask Tae.”
——————–
Taehyung had been peacefully sitting on the couch scrolling through his phone while petting Yeontan, who was sitting in his lap, when the doorbell rang. He looked at the date. They weren’t expecting anyone, were they? He got up and walked to the door before opening it.
Moon looked him up and down before commenting, “This is the most ‘Tae’ I’ve seen you since I got here a few weeks ago.”
He looked down at his shorts and t-shirt before looking back up at her. “What?”
“Never mind. You and Nia live together? She never told me. I suppose I should’ve assumed since you two always drove home together, but I guess I just thought you took her home or something.”
Taehyung nodded slowly. He decided to ignore everything Moon had just said. “Um…Nia’s in her room, I think. It’s the second door down the hall.”
“Ok, thanks!” She was down the hall faster than Taehyung could blink. He shrugged and headed back to the couch.

“Is that a ring???”
Nia looked up from her notebook. “When did you get here?”
“Like, two minutes ago. Answer the question.”
“Yes, it’s a ring. It’s on my finger. What else would it be?”
Moon threw her purse on the floor and plopped herself down on Nia’s bed. “Did he propose? Wait, when did you move in together? His dog is so cute.”
“Um…” Nia decided to unpack this one at a time. “No, he didn’t propose.” This statement earned an odd look from Moon. “We moved in together…two months ago? Or was it three? And yes, Yeontan is adorable.”
“What do you mean he didn’t propose?” Moon grabbed Nia’s hand and waved it in front of her face. “Why are you wearing an engagement ring, then?”
“How do you know this is an engagement ring?” Nia teased.
Moon frowned. “Ok, then what is it?”
“An engagement ring.”
Moon looked exasperated, and Nia laughed.
“I asked him.”
Moon just stared at her, and Nia was sure this was the most silence she’d ever had in the same room as Moon.
“You…what?”
“So, what happened was he took me out to go stargazing last weekend, and he brought the ring along with him. eventually, he pulled it out and showed it to me and told me how he’d bought it a few weeks before I told him about the tumor. He said…he knew he couldn’t ask me then. But he kept it. For all these years.”
“And…? Why didn’t he ask you last weekend?”
Nia shrugged. “I think he was scared of messing it up. It hasn’t even been a year since we met again, you know. And I only recently started recovering memories. I think he was scared I wasn’t in love with him anymore. But I knew what I wanted. And I knew I was ready. So, I asked him instead.”
“Wow,” Moon breathed. “Your guys’ story is totally nuts. I mean, you were separated for eight years, but you somehow managed to not only find each other again but also get back together.”
Nia laughed. “Well, yeah.”
“So, when am I getting nieces and nephews?”
Does Nia even like Moon? They don’t sound like they’re friends at all
