Nia ended up taking the shirt home with her.  She hadn’t been able to wash her own shirt yet, but she was sure that stain wasn’t coming out.  She walked through the front door with Taehyung’s shirt still revealing a lot of her collarbone.  Hobi was sitting in his chair working on his computer.  He looked up.

“What…” He stared at her for a few seconds. “Is that your shirt?”

Nia shook her head. “I spilled coffee on myself this morning.  My boss insisted I get a different shirt.”

“Do you know whose shirt it is?”

Nia shook her head again. “My boss’s assistant gave it to me.  I didn’t ask.”

Hobi looked her up and down again. “Well.  Go get changed.  We’re going to my parents’ for dinner again tonight.”

“Right.”

——————–

Nia rummaged through the box her mom had packed.  It was full of her old stuff.  She remembered none of it.  When she reached the bottom of the box, she pulled out a heart-shaped pin cushion.  It had a number written on it.  Was it a phone number?  And why was it written on a pin cushion?

——————–

Nia found herself on their back porch that evening wearing the shirt again.  She buried her nose in it.  It smelled so familiar.  Why did she recognize the scent?  She continued to inhale it as she stared up at the cloudless starry night sky.  She wished she knew why this was familiar.  Losing her memory had been terrible.

She looked down at the shirt.  It hung loosely on her frame.  The person who this shirt belonged to clearly had wide shoulders.  She giggled.  She’d probably never know whose it was.  She’d have to go around smelling all the guys in the office.  And that would be very strange.

But…did she take the shirt with her to work tomorrow?  Should she return it to Mr. Kim’s assistant?  She sighed and settled back into her chair.  She returned her gaze to the stars.  She could pick out a few constellations even with the city lights around her.  She sat out there staring at the sky until her eyelids got heavy and she fell asleep.

——————–

“Nia…wake up.  You’re late for work!”

Nia sat straight up.  She’d had a dream.  About her and Mr. Kim?  They’d been laying in a grass field staring up at the sky.  And he’d asked something…what had he asked?

“Nia.  You were supposed to be at work five minutes ago.”

Nia looked up and met Hobi’s eyes. “What…?”

“Are you feeling all right?  Your job?  At Kim Inc?”

Nia’s eyes widened. “Shoot!” She jumped up out of the chair and rushed inside.  She was in such a hurry that she didn’t bother to change her shirt.  She pulled on a skirt and tucked the shirt into it before grabbing her bag and flying out the door.

She arrived at work fifteen minutes later.  She was definitely toast now.  This was the second day in a row she was late.  She tripped into Mr. Kim’s office.

“I’m so sorry, Mr. Kim!  My alarm didn’t wake me this morning!”

Taehyung stared down at Nia.  She was still wearing his shirt this morning.  That was very strange.  He waved his hand at her, motioning for her to stand back up.

“It’s all right.  There wasn’t much you could’ve gotten done in the time it took you to get here, anyways.  Can you go get us both some breakfast from the little coffee shop across the street?  I’m assuming you haven’t eaten yet.”

“Um…no, sir, I haven’t.  What would you like?”

“A hot chocolate and a blueberry scone.”

A blueberry scone?  Why did that sound familiar?  It was almost as if she remembered getting someone else a blueberry scone.  But she couldn’t recall who.

“Ah.  Yes, sir.  I’ll be back with them soon.” She spun on her heel and headed back out the door.

Taehyung hadn’t missed the look on her face when he’d mentioned a blueberry scone.  She’d looked as if she were trying to recall something.  But that look had disappeared a moment later as she’d nodded and walked out the door.  He sighed.  He really wished she’d remember something.
