“Thank you,” he breathed.
She blinked. “What?” She didn’t understand.
“For understanding.”
She simply stared at him. Her eyes were so pretty. He leaned towards her to peer into their depths. A lighter brown than his own, they were fascinating.
“Understanding?” she echoed, mesmerized by his stunning eyes.
Someone had once said that the eyes were the doorways to the soul. Whoever had said that must have gazed into Jungkook’s lovely eyes. Full of humor and kindness and compassion. She felt like she would happily fall into them and blissfully become lost there. Forever.
But then he blinked. Effectively shutting her out of those dark pools for a moment. She felt sadness engulf her soul again. But then he smiled. And the light of his sun illuminated her heart once more. As he opened his mouth to speak, he revealed his adorable, chubby teeth. His breath breezed over her face as he answered her question.
“Understanding my heart. My feelings. How it feels to be famous. Yet still human. I’m just a regular guy. No matter how many girls think they’re madly in love with me.” He inhaled deeply before letting the air back out in a sudden whoosh. “Sometimes I wonder how many of those girls would even still want to talk to me if I was suddenly no longer famous or rich or even attractive.” He grinned. “If I let my abs go, covered my body in hideous tattoos, grew my hair out to my shoulders, and my face broke out horribly. How many of them would love me then?”
Daniela stared at him. She couldn’t imagine Jungkook being anything but beautiful. Even under the circumstances he had just described. “None of those things could touch your sweet heart, Jungkook. Even under such circumstances, you would still be stunning.” She gazed into his obsidian orbs. “You would still have the same eyes.”
Her words echoed throughout every cell of his body. He’d heard those words with every part of his spirit, soul, and heart. He gazed at her as a tear formed in his eye. You would still have the same eyes. Her thought reverberated throughout the hallways of his mind.
“It’s your eyes that move me, Jungkook. It’s the look you bend on others when you’re loving them. And you love others so well. It’s the tears that flow from your eyes at the sweetest moments. It’s the heart behind them that I love so much. Even if I don’t really know you,” she mumbled the last sentence.
“Perhaps you do.”
He couldn’t explain this strange connection he seemed to have with her. But he felt as if he truly had found a kindred spirit in this kind girl.
