One of a Kind – Chapter 2

“Where are we, jagiya?” I asked as Tae pulled me along after him. “Was this your surprise?”

He grinned. “Yep.  This is the cherry blossom garden I’ve been telling you about.” He turned to me and clasped both of my hands in his. “At this time of year, when the breeze blows, the cherry blossoms float through the air.”

As he finished his sentence, nature proved it to be true as a gush of wind blew through, causing it to rain cherry blossoms.  I gasped in awe as I looked around at the cherry blossom shower.  I was so absorbed by the beauty of it that I hadn’t even realized Tae had let go of my hands.  When I looked back at him, he pulled a small box from his pocket.  He had a huge grin and his eyes were full of sparkles.

“Choe Misun, do you know what the only thing I’ve ever wanted to change about you is?”

I looked at him with a questioning look. “No.  What is it?”

“Your surname.”

I grinned widely as Tae got down on one knee, opening the small box to reveal a pearl ring that had been carefully carved into a cherry blossom and incrusted with small diamonds.

“Choe Misun, will you marry me?”

I felt my eyes pool with tears. “Yes, yes!  Of course I’ll marry you, Tae!”

I was still beaming as he gently put the ring onto my finger, claiming me as his.  He then stood up and pulled me into a passionate kiss.

“I love you, my princess.”

“I love you too, my prince.”

“You’re my one of a kind, my love.” He held up my left hand. “Just like this ring.”

I grinned and kissed him once more.  He would eternally be my perfect prince.
