Picture Perfect – Chapter 4: Someday

It wasn’t long before they were back at the hotel.  Jinie passed out onto her pillow almost the second they walked through the door.  Ivory decided to watch some TV, but a few minutes after she sat down, she heard a phone ringing.  Where was it coming from?  She got up off the couch and went to search through Jinie’s bag.  When she found the phone, she pushed ‘accept’ on the call without second thought and held the phone up to her ear.

“Hello?”

“Um…” Ivory heard a quiet mumble on the other end of the line. “I’m sorry…I think I have the wrong number.”

“This isn’t my phone.  Who gave you this number?” Ivory responded bluntly.

“Sujin Jung…?”

“Ah!  Yes!  This is the right number.  Who is this?”

“It’s Tae.  Sujin told me she’d text me when she got back, but it had been a while…”

“Oh, sorry about that.  She’s sound asleep.  She was barely awake in the car.  I guess she forgot.”

Tae let out an airy chuckle. “Thank goodness.  I’ll let you go, then.”

“All righty.  Bye bye.”

Ivory ended the call.  How on earth had Jinie gotten that guy’s number so fast?

——————–

“Ivory, wake up.  I’m starving.”

Ivory opened one eye and stared up at Jinie. “What time is it…?”

“Eleven.”

“What?” Ivory sat up, board straight. “We missed dinner!”

“Yeah, and I missed a call.”

“Oh, yeah.  Your boyfriend called.”

“Boyfriend?” Jinie scoffed. “Yeah, right.  Like he’d ever date someone like me.  And we just met today!  Don’t be ridiculous.  Now, what do you want for dinner?”

“If he’s not your boyfriend, why did he call asking why you hadn’t texted him?”

Jinie scratched her head. “Is that why he called…?” She shrugged. “I don’t know.  Like I said, we just met today.  And don’t avoid my dinner question unless you want me to eat without you.”

“Fine.  Just order some pizza.”

“Me?  You do it!”

“Then admit Mr. Model is your boyfriend~”

Jinie huffed and pulled out her phone. “I’m ordering pizza with extra pineapple.” She stomped out of the room.

“What?  You don’t even like pineapple pizza!  Jinie!”

——————–

The next few days flew by fast.  There was much work to get done and not a lot of time to do it.  Soon enough, it was time to go home.

“Are you going to say goodbye to your boyfriend?” Ivory asked as they packed up their equipment.

“For the last time, he’s not my boyfriend.” Jinie replied, exasperated.

Ivory laughed.

Half an hour later, it was time to head out.  Jinie was carrying one of the cameras out to the car when someone tapped her on the shoulder.  She looked up.  Tae was smiling down at her.

“Do you need any help?”

Jinie shook her head. “No, I’m fine.”

He nodded. “You know…you’re really good at photography.”

“Well, it is my job.”

“Right.  Um…I hope we can meet again.  I’ve really enjoyed talking to you.”

Jinie offered him a faint smile.  She knew how little time he had for friends. “Maybe someday.”
