“Get your hopes up? About what?”
“Nothing.” Jinie denied immediately.
Tae hooked his finger under her chin and turned her head towards his. “What is it?”
She shook her head, keeping her lips tightly sealed. He leaned closer to her until his face was only a few inches from her.
“If you don’t tell me, I’ll just have to kiss you.”
Her eyes widened. “W-what?”
He shrugged and leaned in even closer, only stopping when their noses bumped.
“Tae…”
He grinned. “Yes?”
“W-what are you doing?”
“You know what I’m doing.”
She continued to stare at him, her face turning bright red. Thankfully, he couldn’t tell because of how dark it was. But she was embarrassed, nonetheless.
He smiled and dropped his hand from her chin. “You’re not going to tell me, are you?” he pulled away and stared up at the sky again.
She stayed silent, continuing to stare up at him. “I just…don’t know how to say it.”
“If it is what I think it is, you can say it.” he looked back down and met her eyes. “You like me?”
“Of course, I like you!” she exclaimed, once again turning red. “Why would I have been talking to you for the past few months otherwise?”
He huffed. “No…I mean…” he looked back up at the stars. He was silent for a few moments before muttering, “was I wrong?” He sounded deflated.
“What do you want me to say? That I like-like you?”
“Do you?”
She was silent for a moment before muttering, “yes.”
Tae inhaled sharply before looking down at her. “Really?”
“Why would I lie about that?”
He shrugged. Before he could open his mouth to respond, she leaned up and pecked his lips. She was quick to pull away, her eyes widening as she came to terms with what she’d just done.
“Hey! That’s all I get?”
“Wha-” she was cut off as Tae cupped her face and kissed her again.
After a moment, he pulled away. “That’s more like it.”
She stared up at him for a moment. Even in the dim moonlight, she could see his eyes sparkling. “So…what are we now?”
“I don’t have a lot of time to spare, but…would you be my girlfriend?”

“I can’t believe you cancelled on us last night! You never cancel when we have sleepovers! What were you up to?” Nani asked the next morning when she met Jinie for breakfast.
“I already told you I had something come up last minute.”
“At midnight? Come on!”
“Please don’t ask questions. I slept three hours last night and have two shifts at the coffee shop and a photoshoot today.”
“Ok.” Nani grinned and took a bite of her bagel. “Just promise you’ll tell me someday?”
“Sure. Someday.”
Finale as in that’s it?
