Sophie slammed the door behind her. She was so tired. Today had been a long day. But it seemed every day had been long since Yoongi had left. She hated to admit it, but she missed him. It had been a year but being here all alone was no fun anymore. When she’d first moved here, she’d been by herself. And she’d enjoyed it then. She didn’t have her parents chasing her around and breathing down her neck, and she had a fresh start.
Then one day, she’d met Yoongi. She’d been getting coffee at a café one morning, and she’d tripped on her feet and crashed straight into him. His white shirt had been soaked through with her black coffee. He’d simply offered to buy her a new coffee. He’d said nothing about his shirt. And then they’d started meeting more and more after that. Somehow, it had resulted in a relationship.
But then one day, he’d broken up with her. He hadn’t given a reason why. He’d just told her they needed to break up. And she hadn’t seen him since. That had been a year ago. In the same rainy weather that they had today. She wondered where he was. And she wondered if she should go home. She didn’t miss her parents, but she knew no one here. She hadn’t made any friends, and Yoongi was gone now.
She threw on a jacket and stepped outside. She was going for a walk. She didn’t know what else to do, and she didn’t care that it was raining. The moment she stepped out of the apartment, she was engulfed in rain. She was already getting wet, but she didn’t care.
She walked a few blocks, and before she knew it, she was crying. Would Yoongi ever come back? She didn’t know what to do without him. She’d spent the past year working herself into exhaustion. Ever since he’d left her, she’d just drowned herself in work. And today was the first time she was letting herself just cry. Sure, she’d cried before, but she hadn’t let it go on for too long.
Today she was just going to let herself cry until she was out of tears. She missed him so much. Why had he left her? She still didn’t know. She’d thought and thought about any reason he could’ve had, but she could think of nothing.
Maybe there was just something wrong with her. That was it. She’d never had a boyfriend before Yoongi, and he’d broken up with her for seemingly no reason, so clearly, she was just the problem here.
She’d always known she didn’t deserve Yoongi. He’d been too sweet. On the days she’d been depressed, he would bring her coffee and just be with her, no questions asked. On the days she’d been happy, he’d listen to her blab for hours. He’d never complained. They’d never even fought. He’d been…perfect.
Maybe he’d been some other-worldly being. Maybe he’d had to go back to his home planet, and that’s why he’d left her without an explanation.
The more she thought, the more she realized how little he’d spoken to her. She’d asked him to be her boyfriend, and he’d simply nodded and smiled. That was just Yoongi. She’d never questioned it, but now she was starting to wonder if he hadn’t been able to handle a relationship. They’d only dated for a few months before he’d disappeared. She wished she’d never asked him to be her boyfriend. Maybe they’d still be friends.
She walked past the café where they met. She stared up at it with tears still pouring down her face. No one who passed her noticed her tears. It was raining too hard to distinguish tears from rain. She let out a sigh as she glanced inside at the table they’d once frequented. There was a young couple sitting there. They were both laughing. Sophie wondered how someone could be so happy when it was raining outside. The rain had always made her depressed.
But suddenly, it ceased to rain. She looked up, confused. And was met with a black umbrella. She spun around in search of the owner of that umbrella. She came face-to-face with the sweetest face she’d ever seen.
“Yoongi?”
Girl you never not leave it like this!
