Her appa stared at him. What was this boy’s game? Thirty or not, he was a boy. He had no taste for the job. He didn’t have a bloodthirsty bone in his body. He was weak. But maybe her father could use that to his advantage.
Could he somehow use Bora to entice Jungkook into getting blood on his pristine hands? Then he could hand him to the cops along with the evidence. He would have rid the pup from Bora’s life and struck a mortal blow to his worst enemy in one fell swoop.
He eyed Jungkook as he weighed his options.
“You don’t want to work for me,” he tested the waters. “You’re not cut out for this business. Go find some nice girl at the mall. Leave my daughter alone.”
Jungkook stared at him. “I can’t leave her alone,” he whispered. “I wish I could, but she stole my heart and soul the first time I ever laid eyes on her…”
He’d gone to get ice cream. A normal, everyday activity that would change his life forever. He had been enjoying his mundane day. No bad guys to flee from. No masterminds to outwit. Just an ice cream cone to savor. A day of peace and sweetness.
He entered the shop to order his chocolate turtle ice cream. Two scoops on a sugar cone. But all his taste buds’ desires were wiped clean out of his head when he suddenly glanced up into the eyes of the most beautiful girl he had ever seen. He’d been studying the pattern in the floor tiles, then his eyes had lifted in their search for his coveted treat. Which barrel held his favorite flavor?
That’s when his eyes had connected with hers. She’d been standing behind the counter. Ready to take his order. Her long, dark hair had been pulled back into a ponytail. She’d been wearing a pink apron that covered whatever cute outfit she’d picked out that day. But nothing could disguise her beautiful, chocolate eyes. He had fallen straight into them. Only to be engulfed in the next instant by her mesmerizing smile.
“Can I help you?”
Boy, could she ever! Immediately, he was mentally brushing his mouth across hers. She was stunningly beautiful. Like a masterpiece. The Mona Lisa had nothing on this girl.
But it appeared she had a hidden talent. She’d stolen his tongue. He’d opened his mouth to respond to her question. Only to discover that he could no longer speak.
He must have stood there looking intensely stupid. As he gazed, spellbound, into those sparkling, chocolate depths. He remembered that he’d swallowed in an attempt to loosen his tongue. Still his voice was missing in action. So he’d simply stared at her. Finally, as she had frowned at him, he’d smiled.
His smile seemed to have unearthed his voice, for in the next instant, it flowed effortlessly across his tongue, “Chocolate turtle, two scoops on a sugar cone. And add whatever you like to my order. My treat. A hard-working girl like you deserves a break. And a sweet treat too.”
But he had no longer cared one whit about that ice cream cone. He’d wanted only the sweet girl standing in front of him. His intense, obsidian eyes had followed her, caressed her, as she scooped his ice cream. Periodically, she’d gazed back up into his eyes again. Stealing his breath once more.
