He was two weeks in. Two weeks in to the job her appa had given him. He hadn’t realized the job would require his own treachery. Her appa had sent him back into his own father’s operation. He wanted Jungkook to bring down his own appa.
The trickiest part was convincing his father. So Jungkook had decided that the truth was the only way to go. He had demanded a face-to-face meeting with his appa. No one else in the room. No one else in the building. His father had granted him the audience because Jungkook had him over a barrel.
So Jungkook had wasted two weeks in anticipation of this meeting. He’d stalled her father by convincing him that it was taking time to earn the trust of his father’s minions. Jungkook was discovering what an amazing liar he could be. He despised that about himself. But it was necessary if he was going to break her free from the hold her father had over her.
Now he stood before his own appa. A man he hadn’t laid eyes on in three years. His cold eyes surveyed Jungkook with hatred. And something else. Something conflicting.
“I hear you’re working for my enemy,” he began.
“That’s because that’s what I wanted you to hear.”
His appa’s face remained a stiff brick. Not even an eyebrow popped.
“Why are you here?”
“I need your help.”
“My help? You cut yourself off from my help three years ago.”
Jungkook’s face remained impassive. “I understand.” He turned to go.
He made it all the way to the door before his appa spoke.
“What do you want?”
“To bring down Lee Kwangjo.”
