Treasured: Fly to My Room – Chapter 2: The Unexpected Visitor

Nani, Happy Birthday, sweetheart!  I wrote this story just for you!  To celebrate your special day!

Love, Rainbow Rose

“Jimin?” Nani sat straight up, smacking her head on the top bunk and nearly flying off the bed.  Her gorgeous, long hair spilling around the surface of her bed, she sat stunned, simply staring at the wonderful face of a boy she had loved from afar for so long now.

His plump lips curved into a sweet smile.  “Hello, Nani.”

“Jimin!  What are you—”

She glanced around her bedroom as she rubbed her head.  It was stinging where she’d smacked it on the top bunk.  Then she closed her eyes.  Shook her head.  To clear it.  For her brain was obviously befuddled.

Now she was imagining things.  She steeled herself for the inevitable.  She would open her eyes again to an empty room.  Jimin would have flown.  Out her window.  Back to his own world.

But before she could lift her eyelids again, his voice sounded once more.

“Come on, Nani.  Come away with me.”

“What?” Nani’s dark eyebrows jumped up as her eyes flew open.  “We can’t go anywhere.  We’re under so many restrictions right now.”

“Restrictions?  What restrictions?  There aren’t any restrictions.”

Nani gaped at Jimin like he was nuts.

“Of course, there are restrictions!  We’re under quarantine because of COVID.”

His adorable brow crumpled as he scrunched up the straight blade of his cute nose.  “What are you talking about?  We’re not under quarantine.  How would I have come to visit you if we were under quarantine?”

Nani furrowed her brow at the beautiful man.  “How did you come to visit me?”

“What do you mean?  I just flew to your room.”

Well, that – at least – appeared to be true.

Her eyes strayed to her open window.  “What did you do?  Climb in through my window?”

His eyes speared hers a moment later.  “Haven’t you ever read Romeo and Juliet?  The romantic beau always climbs through the window.”

“I thought he climbed up a wall to reach her on the balcony.”

“Same difference.”  His lips quirked upward in a small smile that stole her breath.  “Does it matter how I got here?”

She shrugged.  “I guess not.”  But she continued to narrow her eyes at him.  Trying to figure out this strange circumstance.  How on earth had Jimin entered her room?  Had he really climbed in through the window?  While her eyes were closed?

“So, what do you want to do for your birthday?”  His question broke into her musing.

Surprised, she lifted her eyes to meet his again.  “My birthday?  That’s why you’re here?”

“Of course.  My special little ARMY is celebrating a very important birthday.”

“A very important birthday?  What important birthday?”

“Your birthday.”

“Why is it so special?” she asked, confused.

“Because it’s yours.”

Nani’s heart melted at the sweet expression in Jimin’s chocolate eyes.

His grin flipped up in the air again.  “So, what do you want to do today?  We can do anything.”

Her eyebrows slapped her hairline.  “Anything?”

“Mm-hmm.”  He stood still as he reached up and ran his hand through his hair.  His bangs flopped down over his eye again in the most adorable manner.

Nani continued to stare at him.  She began to believe that Jimin must be a figment of her imagination.  So she decided to test her theory.

“I want to touch you.”

A weird ripple crossed Jimin’s face.  “What?”

“I think I dreamed you up.  If I touch you, you’ll disappear.”

“Then why would you want to touch me?  You want me to disappear?”

“What?  No.”  She frowned as she continued to watch him.  “You’re right.  I don’t want you to disappear.  So maybe I shouldn’t touch you.”  She didn’t know it, but she suddenly looked quite disappointed.  “Then this beautiful daydream would come to an end, and I’d be alone again.”

Jimin took several steps towards her.  He reached out and slid his fingers around hers until he was clasping her cool hand in his warm one.  Then he grinned brilliantly at her.

“There.  We’re touching, and I’m still here.”

She stared in shock down at their interlocked hands.  Jimin was holding her hand!

Suddenly, she heard the rain pounding on the roof again.  Her eyes traveled up to his face.  If he’d just come from outside, why wasn’t he drenched?

But as she looked at him, she saw the raindrops clinging to his skin.  And his dark hair was wet.  Why hadn’t she noticed before?

She glanced down at his shirt.  It was a little damp, but it wasn’t soaked.  “Aren’t you cold?”

Jimin’s eyes disappeared as he squinted at her.  “Why would I be cold?”

“Your shirt is wet.”

He glanced down at his black hoodie and shrugged.  “I’m all right.”  His smile appeared again as he looked up at her.  “So, what are we going to do?”

“I want you to sing for me.”  Her face broke forth with light as a sunny smile crowned her lips with the newfound joy she’d discovered when Jimin had suddenly appeared in her room.

Sujin was never going to believe this.  Though, upon reflection, Nani realized that if anyone would believe her, it was Sujin.

Jimin appeared suddenly self-conscious.  “You want me to sing for you?”

Nani bobbed her head up and down slowly.  “Yep.”

He sighed.  “What song?”

Fly to My Room.”

Jimin was still holding her hand.  He lifted it and pulled her towards him until she was standing right in front of him.  So when he opened his mouth and began to sing, she felt his breath passing over her lips.  His gorgeous, chocolate eyes held a sweet smile the whole time he was singing.  And he sang the whole song.  Nani was melting the entire time.  Surely, this was a dream!
