“Jungkook, when are you leaving?”
“Three days from now. They expect me to be there by the end of the week.”
“Did you tell Yun?”
“Not yet. You know I can’t exactly tell her what I’m doing being gone for three weeks. And she’s had a tough month. I’ll tell her tomorrow.”
——————–
“Yun. I’m going to tell you something. But you can’t tell anyone.” Ahseong said in a hushed tone.
“What is it?”
“I think I’m pregnant.”
Yun’s eyes widened. It was such a good thing she had sworn to get over Taehyung weeks ago. She would’ve probably been much more pained by this news otherwise.
“Al-already?”
Ahseong giggled. “I mean…I suppose it is quick. But it’s not that unexpected, is it?”
“You’re right. It’s not. I’m just surprised, I guess.”
“Now we really need to catch Kimun, though. He’s a threat to more than just Taehyung now. And…keep this between us for now. I’m not even going to tell Taehyung yet. It would just add another level of stress.”
Yun nodded. She wouldn’t have told anyone anyway. Anything the queen told her was usually a secret that wasn’t to be spread.

“What? You’re leaving? Where are you going?” Yun asked in shock upon hearing Jungkook’s news.
“I’m going home to visit my family. I haven’t seen them since I started working as a knight.”
“Oh…you’ve never mentioned them before.”
“Well…” Jungkook sighed. “I’ve never been the closest to them. They…we…” he paused. “Let’s just say they cared more about their livelihood than they did about me. That’s why I moved away.”
“Do you have any siblings?”
Jungkook nodded. “I have an older brother and a younger sister. My sister ran off with a guy when she was fifteen, and my brother married the year I came here. There wasn’t any point in sticking around.”
“Why come here, though?”
“It…attracted my notice.”
“Are you just going to see your parents?”
“And my brother. He and his wife live with my parents. And apparently they had a son last year. I had no idea.”
“Oh. Well, how long are you going to be gone for?”
“Three weeks.”
“Three weeks??”
“What?”
“That’s…a long time.”
“Eh. I’ll be back before you know it. You’ll be working while I’m gone.”
Yun sighed. “Well, I hope you enjoy your trip.”
“I do too, Yun. I do too…”
