Was she going to kiss him? He felt tension rising in his soul. And in his body. He hadn’t kissed a girl in years. He cleared his throat. Why was he so nervous?
“Yoongi?” her muffled voice traveled through the fabric of his shirt. “Why is your heart racing?”
Unconsciously, he tightened his hold on her.
It’s all your fault, you little minx. You’ve got me thinking of things I usually push to the side.
But he found that he liked the feel of her in his arms. She was comforting. Sweet. Soft. Nice. What a mundane word for what he was feeling now. He was beginning to hope that she would kiss him. What would a kiss from such an innocent girl feel like? Would it feel like her? Comforting? Sweet? Soft? Nice?
He tilted his head to gaze down at her over the outline of his cheek. He was beginning to anticipate that kiss. More than she was…
She lifted her head and read the look in his eyes. And where his heart was racing, hers stopped. She was caught in that cryptic gaze. She couldn’t even blink. Then his head began to lower towards her face. She couldn’t breathe. His mouth was traveling towards hers. Was Yoongi contemplating kissing her?
Perhaps this was what his life had been missing. The touch of her lips against his. He wouldn’t know for sure until they’d finally kissed. But as he lowered his head, something in his peripheral vision caught his eye, and he raised his head abruptly as a sharp question left his mouth.
“What is that?”
Stunned by the sudden sharpness of his tone, Stasia drew away from him. She was disappointed. She’d thought Yoongi was going to kiss her. Instead, he’d startled her by suddenly barking at her. Now, she followed his gaze. That’s when she saw it. The thing she’d wanted to keep hidden. Her heart sank. Why had Yoongi noticed that?
