Jungkook was still holding her hand. The warmth of his palm was radiating through her skin. She couldn’t believe he was holding her hand in the middle of this busy store. But she wasn’t about to let go of him.
She glanced up at him and found his midnight eyes intent on her face. Her stomach flipped over, releasing all the butterflies that had been trapped in it. Then, they flew up into her heart. It was the only reasonable explanation for the palpitations in her heart at this moment in time. She stared deeply into Jungkook’s obsidian orbs. The boy had the most beautiful eyes. She’d like to live in them. She sighed. Today was most likely the only day she’d get to spend with him. She’d best enjoy it while it lasted.
He saw the wistfulness enter her gaze. He leaned towards her, bending his head to whisper in her ear and disturb her composure once again. “What’s wrong?”
He turned towards her, and she couldn’t help but notice that his lips were only a couple inches from her mouth. She glanced up into his eyes again. His gorgeous eyes. And fell headlong into them once more.
“I’m going to miss you.” Involuntarily, she squeezed his hand as she spoke.
His fingers tightened around her own, and her eyes widened in surprise.
“Who says I’m going anywhere?”
His eyes were still intent on her own for a moment before they swept over her face in a pleasing perusal of her countenance. He smiled faintly as his eyes came to rest on her lips. Then he looked for her dimples, but they were in hiding, so he decided to draw them out.
“Daniela, if there were a Taehyung cookie here, would it have ears like Spock?”
She quirked an eyebrow in confusion for a moment before a spurt of laughter left her lips all of a sudden.
There we go. There are those darling dimples.
He watched them in fascination. Was it strange that he wanted to stick the tip of his finger into them? What he really desired was to kiss them. He imagined his lips brushing across the tiny wells. Then, since he was already so close, he might as well close the distance between their mouths and…
“You mean, because Tae is an alien?” She was giggling now.
Jungkook blinked and grinned. Then he nodded his head as he pressed his lips together. He had no idea that he’d just unleashed his own dimples. Making Daniela sigh inwardly.
She was so cute. His plan had worked. Now…how to make her laugh again?
“Or he might have little antennae on the front of his head here,” he gestured with his free hand to the space right above his forehead.
She nodded sagely. “So…what would the other guys look like in cookie form?” She pursed her lips and gazed at the ceiling. “Let me see…”
“Hobi would be wearing sunglasses,” Jungkook suggested.
“For sure! And his face would be radiating light beams.”
“A sunshine cookie.”
She nodded. “So, let’s see. A Kookie cookie. Just a cute boy, I think, with big, dark eyes,” her lips quirked in a smile. “A Tae alien cookie. And a Hobi sunshine. Who’s next?”
“Jimin.”
“Jimin wouldn’t be a cookie. He would be a mochi. A baby mochi – a miniature one. But what flavor?”
Jungkook slid his teeth over his bottom lip as he considered her question. Those dimples were dancing again. Much to Daniela’s delight.
“Oh! Of course, Yoongi would be a sugar cookie! With lots of granulated sugar grains sprinkled on top. A Suga cookie!”
Jungkook laughed.
Daniela watched, fascinated, as his eyes transformed into two dark quarter moons hovering above his cheeks. He scrunched up his cute nose and showed off his shining teeth. This was her favorite posture of his. He was absolutely gorgeous when he grinned fully.
“Jin would, of course, be the worldwide handsome cookie,” Jungkook murmured a moment later.
Now, it was Daniela’s turn to grin. Her dimples popped out once more, and Jungkook felt suddenly very happy. And a little lightheaded. Without realizing it, he began to pet the top of her thumb with his own.
He was releasing a million tingles into her skin. Did he realize it? Was he, in fact, doing it on purpose because he understood the strange power that he held over her? She glanced up into his eyes as she felt her heart rate accelerating. But he was simply smiling down at her. A completely innocent look on his face.
“Can’t you feel the fire raging between us?” she wanted to cry out to him.
But instead, she started chewing on her lip. Which endeared her further to Jungkook. His eyes fastened onto that lip. She was just adorable.
Was he looking at her lips again?
She stopped chewing on her lip and drew her teeth back into her mouth. His eyes met hers. There it was again. Fire. Explosions. Heat. She could feel it creeping up her cheeks again too.
Suddenly, he grinned once more.
Ohhh!
He knew the effect he was having on her! It was so unfair. She doubted she was having the same effect on him. Suddenly, very embarrassed, she tore her hand from his grasp and strode forward to stare down into one of the glass cases.
Disappointed to lose the contact with her warm hand, he frowned. Was she upset? Why?
About to pursue her, Jungkook realized that the line had again moved, and the clerk was looking expectantly at him as he waited to take his order.
